Main Cast: Tom Hanks, Ewan McGregor, Ayelet Zurer

Director: Ron Howard

IMDB link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0808151/

Since I liked the predecessor of this movie, The Da Vinci Code, I decided to give this movie a try without much hesitation and I was in for a pleasant surprise. My gang and I (however ignorant about all the Christian funda) enjoyed every minute of the movie. There was not a single stretch of disappointment or the movie just dragging on without any significance. And I more than just beg to differ with the critics who felt that the movie was anything but interesting.

The myths and mystery surrounding the Illuminati was duly addressed by the movie in such a manner that there were no logical gaps in the flow of the story. The movie along with its brilliant performances by Tom Hanks and Ewan McGregor and the strong story line keeps the audience truly engaged and thrilled throughout the movie. Although it might be a bit baffling to totally follow Tom Hanks’ reasoning unless you belong to the likes of I-have-a-relative-in-Vatican, following WHAT he does would more than suffice and most often than not, that is all you will be able to do! And let me assure you that this by itself would leave you guessing the next movie.

The cast is adequately supported by the strong and unpredictable story line. The twists are properly planted in such a way the audience would never guess (at least none of us did!). While Tom Hanks brilliantly plays his part of Prof. Robert Langdon who deciphers various clues and surges forward towards the illuminati, occasionally entertaining with his light doses of sarcasm as well, Ewan McGregor dazzles the screen with his versatility and subtleness. The supporting cast was brilliantly integrated into the storyline in a very coherent fashion.

My Verdict:

In short, if the religious sentiments are set aside, I would rate this movie as a must watch thriller and on a scale to 5, I would rate it 4/5. Overall, this movie is a must watch for anyone looking for a fast thriller flick with performances by the lead cast, nothing less than brilliant. Ron Howard has, yet again, displayed his finesse.Similar Posts:
