Reader allows you to organize all the websites and blogs you read. Its basically an online feed reader. And Its available from the links on top of your gmail. See the image below.

Take a look at this software right now. To know its advantages click on “Add Subscription” and enter the following URL in to the box.

Now you can read all the content in my blog with out visiting my blog. When ever I update or put a new post, it will appear in your reader. You can add feeds from other sites and blogs also like this. Whenever you visit a site and would like to read future posts in it, look for RSS feed link. Copy the link and subscribe to it.
Also Make it a habit to check your reader whenever you login to your gmail.

Can you believe that ? If not believe it. I invited a friend of mine to join a group and the invitation went to his gmail spam folder.
Now it looks like their spam finding algorithm is very neutral and is not giving any special consideration to the mails from google servers itself.
Google has one of the best spam fighting technology. But some times google also makes mistakes. There are still many spam mails in my inbox, most of them are the popular multi million dollar African fraud mails. There are some lottery mails also. Google is still unable to detect them.

Sometimes Gmail becomes an addiction. I myself was a Gmail addict. Gmail, built in feed reader and a lot of feeds can eat up all your time. There were times when I used to wake up in the morning and spend the whole day reading mails, replying to them and then reading feeds. Leaving unread feeds in my reader was a very hard thing to do.
Feeds are good, but when they start becoming addictive, then its time to delete some of the feeds. Recently I deleted around 10 feeds from my reader. Those feeds were useful, but not enough useful compared to the time I spent for the feeds.
In the future internet will face the same problem, information overload. Too much information coming to you, and you find it difficult to distinguish from the useful and the useless. Lets hope web 3.0 will bring some solution to this problem.

A very common mistake product development teams make is that, they think of a product as a set of features. But there something more to a product, that makes it a success. Every product that we use must make an emotional attachment with ourselves. This attachment is very much visible in the web world. Think how much you are attached to your gmail inbox.
I remember a website that was launched for the youth, when I was in school. It had a lot of features, movie script writing, online discussions, and a hell of a lot of stuff for the youth. But they didnt even last till their first anniversary. The market in india at that time was not ready for such a website. Despite of all the cool stuff they failed to get that connection with the user.
Write down all the features you need in your new product. Now find out the most important 5 features. In most cases you wont need more than 5 features in a new product. Now add to the top of the list the most important feature. “Easy to use”. Easy is the most important feature. Make a conscious effort to make all the products you make easy to use, even if it means cutting down a few features.
