We all are Idea machines and we generate a new idea every minute. How of us have felt that the best ideas of our lives are born while taking bath ? I myself have a document with 100s of my ideas. Its very interesting to read them once in a while….. so many of them. Thats why Ideas dont have any value, they are free.
Ideas are free, but they have a life time. If you dont implement it, someone else will. Ill give you an example. Back in 2002 I had this idea to create a virtual stock exchange, where we can play share trading game. Trading will be based on real values, but virtual money. The idea was to enable every person to try his trading skills with out burning cash. I discussed this among my friends, but we are college kids then and we didnt have the tech/business knowledge to implement it. Everyone forgot about it until recently we found these sites.

http://markethero.in/
These sites have the same idea, hats off to those guys. Like these there were several ideas we discussed and threw away. Social bookmarking was one idea my friend Sanil had even before delicious and digg existed.
The point is, its not the idea that matters. Its the timely implementation that matters. Ideas are free, but implementation is not. So if you are sitting on an idea, talk to few and if the feedback is good, get started now. Otherwise someone else will do it.

Amazon recently announced a competition for developers using their web services. Developers can submit various business ideas that use amazon services and after the best entry will get a prize of 100,000 $
My idea is to use Amazon Ec2 services to create a load testing application for websites and other web services. A cluster image will be created, which is capable of bombarding the application under load test with a lot of service requests. To increase the load many images can be loaded into the cluster with the same loading application.
The different images can log various kinds of parameters like, round trip delay etc at various load situations and plot graphs to see how the application under test scales.

I dont know whether anyone is planning to do it, or its already implemented.
I want google to provide a developer API to handle registrations/login. I dont want to register by typing in all the details for every site I am interested in. I should be able to login to every site with my google login. Google should provide the site developer with an API to access my personal information.
To get into details, I need something like this.
- I see a new site and I want to join. The site shows that it supports google login
- I type in my google login
- Im redirected to a google page
- I set an access profile which determines how much of my personal information will be given to the new site
- Im redirected back to the site
- Next time onwards login is smooth
- I can use a google page to manage subscriptions to all sites
I want google to do this. If they dont Im gonna do it.

A Maruti true value shop is here, near to my place in Trivandrum. Its a place where you can buy and sell Maruti cars. An year ago there were no more than 3 or 4 vehicles there. We inquired for an omni there and we couldnt get one cos they didnt have an omni with them.
But now the situation has changed, the whole place is crowded with cars, the guys have started parking cars outside of their parking space. But all the cars that are kept there for selling are Maruti 800s. It seems like everyone is dumping maruti 800s. Its logical also, there are many new cars in the market and 800 is the lowest cost car.
I inquired about the price at which these cars are being sold and found out that the true value price is around 1 lakh with a 1 year warranty. If you buy the same car from the original seller you will get it for around 70K to 80K. Thats almost the price of a new auto rickshaw.
Now that presents an opportunity, buy 10 maruti 800s, fit them all with gas fuel converters, paint them all yellow and run them as city taxi. One 800 taxi on the road wont cost more than 1 lakh.
Advantages
1. 4 passenger capacity
2. Air Condition (big time advantage in towns)
3. Comfortable journey
Anybody out there ready to spend 10 lakhs ?

Recently I was reading a blog and I found a post with this cool idea.
In a barber shop we spend around 15 to 20 minutes for a haircut or a shave or a head massage. We sit there looking at the mirror, and unfortunately there is nothing else we can do. So if an advertisement is placed on the mirror, every customer will see it. Every customer will have to look at it for 15 minutes, and the penetration is very high.
To enhance this idea, what if we place a low cost, centrally controlled LED display on which the advertisement changes periodically, more value can be derived out of this idea. The Text on the LED display can be controlled from the internet.
And I recently met a company (Carinov Systems) doing digital signage, they have developed the technology to send video ads to remote TV screens. May be they can set up a TV screen in every barber shop.
