BarCamp Kerala has come a long way since its very humble beginnings at Technopark. The 10th edition of the unconference is scheduled for May 15th at SCMS B-school Kalamassery.
Since this was the 10th event we wanted to make it special and get some new attendees. A friend gave me some free adwords credit and we decided to do a banner ad campaign targeting Kerala’s techies.

I created the above ad, infact its a template from Google itself. Two days after this I got a call from google saying that they cannot approve my ad since it contains the word “Bar” and its against their policies. I tried to reason with her citing examples of other words with “Bar” in it, but failed. She send me the following email also.
Now I dont know how to react to this situation. Even the coolest of companies can be dumb and stupid sometimes.
Even the Court has something called bar ..it is the place where judges and lawyers sit to study the case..

What if I have a business of steel bar? Or Choco Bar icecream? That also will be disapproved? LOL

bar has lots of meanings if u check in the google dictionary itself …..i dnt get it why google rejected …wats the harm in naming with bar??? … …..

May be you should create a new ad with an explanation like “Biggest bloggers meet in Kerala ” or “Technical conference” in the same unit. Some times the lack of explanation in ad may lead them to take such a stupid decision.
