A visit to Delhi with Agra is not only the dream of every the Indians but a dream of people around the globe.
But when it comes to planning people will always have a doubt how to plan the trip.
I would say I can help you with the experience I had on a Delhi-Agra trip last weekend.
I’m going to list down the easiest way to get to places and fare for each places.
I started from Vadodara (Gujarat) and flew to Delhi Taking the cheapest flight Spice Jet on a Thursday evening. (Rs. 3880 for return).
I must tell you that I don’t have a clue regarding the stay in Delhi as I stayed with my relatives.
You can’t visit Agra on Friday as the Taj Mahal is closed on Friday for cleaning. So I made the plan for Agra on Saturday.
Delhi- Agra in one day.
Delhi – Agra trip in one day is also called as Shadhabthi to Shadhabthi Tour. It’s because, you can travel Delhi to Agra return in Shadhabthi Express. This train takes only 2 and half hour from Delhi to agra.
Shadhabthi express in the moring leave from Newdelhi railway station Platform No.1 Every day at 6.15 in the moring. (Rs. 480 fare( which includes a comfortable trip in A/c Chair car with breakfast, which will be served on board.)) I must tell you it’s a really good train, or I can say one of the best train in India which has the world-class standards.
You can do the return on the same train which leaves AGRA CANT station at 8.00PM in the evening.
In agra ones you get out of the Railway station there is a prepaid taxi counter. There are a lot of different packages according to your plan of agra visit.
But I would suggest the 8 hour package in Agra that include all the travelling in Agra. This includes the Agra fort, Taj Mahal, Fathepur Sikiri etc and some shopping places.
This costs only Rs. 950 and there is another package called Shadhabthi to Shadhabthi which costs Rs.1150 rs.
You will get a dedicated Taxi for you to roam around. If you need an Air conditioned Taxi then the fare will be Rs.1150 instead of Rs.950 and Rs.1350 instead of Rs.1150…
This packages are exluding the toll and parking charges. So you will need to pay a toll of Rs.51 and a parking charge of Rs.40 at fathepur sikiri.
I would say that seeing fathepur sikiri is of no use without a Guide. So a guide can be hired for Rs. 100 to Rs. 350 according to the efficiency of guidance.
The Entry fee at fathepur sikiri, taj mahal and agra fort will be Rs. 20 per head excluding children below 15 (seprate ticket for all places)
The same fare will be applicable at every places like taj mahal , Agra fort etc.
For foreign travelers the entry charge at Agra fort and fathepur sikiri is Rs.350 each. And at Taj mahal its Rs.750
Parking at Taj mahal is Rs.20 and again at Agra fort Rs. 20.
A decent Lunch will cost around Rs. 150 to 200.
Its not needed to take any transportation from the Tajmahal Parking till the entry gate if you are fine with walking 500 meters.
Else you can take a rickshaw or electric vehicle.( Rs. 5-10 for ricshaw and Rs.10 for electric vehicle.
Guide is not required in Agra for and Tajmahal but It would keep you busy if you hire a guide for around Rs. 100 to Rs.200.
After all these the driver will take you to laxshmi balaji temple, mini taj ( for shopping Marble works) and some shops where you can buy Agra Petta ( special sweet from agra) and some leather shops.
Just agra Trip cost me Rs. 3000 which can be cheaper if the number of people are more.
Delhi.
If you have two more days extra you can see all the major places in Delhi like Kutub minnar, Bahai Temple , India gate, red fort, parliament buildings, khan market etc.
