The girl students in hostels are advised not to use skin tight dresses, fancy costumes, jewels etc. They should be decently dressed in the campus and in the hostels. They should not interact with the boy students after working hours, and if any girl student is found talking with boy students after working hours for an unduly long time or if she is found in secluded spots talking to the boy students, she will be dealt with strictly and her parents will be informed about her behavior. After the first time disciplinary action will be taken against her.
Sound like a violation of basic rights. The language is threatening also. What do you think ?

I think it is offensive, discriminatory and very degrading. College girls are 18 years and above anyway, I don’t see why they can’t be trusted to make sensible choices about what they wear, who they talk to and when. Unfortunately a lot of Indian parents probably approve of such controls, in their mistaken view that the ‘elders’ always know what is good for all women, specially the young, unmarried women in the society.

What is new in this. Every few months some small town school or college comes up with this kind of code of conduct for young women to protect them like sheeps in the barn and wolves (culprit men) go scot free. Some NGOs will make some hue and cry about it and matter will die but young women will subconsciously adopt these rules in their everyday lives to guard their reputation.

a 20 year old boy was arrested by the cyber police for sending SMS asking people not to vote for the LDF. A complaint was filed by the DYFI! Anything goes these days for the ruling party? Where is our freedom?

Woman empowerment campaigns are happening all over India. But unfortunately the Engineering colleges in south India are still following the conservative and discriminatory practices. How can a woman become a true professional through these institutions with outdated concepts. Many colleges have special canteen, buses, store and even ladies exclusive corridors, staircases etc. Special staffs are appointed in some Kerala Colleges to check the interactions between Boys and Girls.

This is nothing compared to colleges in TamilNadu.Especially colleges like Sathyabhama,Velammal etc in Chennai.

i see an iron hand in the notice. The notice is obviously threatening and against the freedom of the teenage girls.I dont approve the language of the notice nor do i approve absolute freedom which is already in place.I have worked at amritapuri campus and stayed at amritapuri hostel 4 years back.Mobile phones were banned years before it was banned in other colleges. It is very difficult to raise a girl child in our society which is declining morally.
I believe that there are wolves among us men. Many young girls are exploited and their voices are unheard. There is a rot in the society as a whole and if put to vote the majority would want a same hostel for boys and girls.I guess the authorities are taking abnormal steps in dealing with security of girls in their campuses and hostels.
College girls are indeed above 18 years. It is usual that they dont like their parents / elders advising.People are having more than enough freedom. That is why they are very materialistic.Todays generation (majority) does not respect elders. They care about their luxury, comforts and enjoyment only.OLD AGE HOMES are sprouting new when the new generation wants life to be fast like 3G.
The responsibility of a student is to study well.If she knows it well, she will not waste long hours with boys after college hours. They just to need to think about their parents and think whether their parents approve of their actions. You are what you are because your parents raised you well to your teenage. There is no shame in obeying your parent.

Its not a big thing sir, the parents of the girls will be too happy to send their daughters to such a place to study. Almost all parents of girl students in Kerala look for this type of places for their daughters to be educated. So where are the surprises?

This is a clear indication of the rot in our society and the so called morality brigade who think crime committed upon women is due to the woman’s fault and not due the mental depravity of the offending male. What difference is there between this narcissistic warden and the Chennai college authorities who sympathized with the rapists since the girl raped dressed “provocatively”? To the sexual predators in our society even if a woman is bundled up in ten quintals of cloth, she would still be seen as dressed “provocatively”.
Youth may not understand the worries or perceptions of their elders but the elders are doing an even greater injustice by smothering their wards in this manner, themselves forgetting what youth actually feels.
Just like elders deserve respect, so does youth. Beyond a certain point, age must earn the respect and not just command it.

Its terrible to read others comments supporting this pathetic notice in a college.
Are the parents of teenage girls so desperate that they don’t even trust their child. If a teenage girl is found talking to a guy what wrong could happen. The language in the notice is rude. Moreover, if a girl cant talk to a boy at this age this could lead to degrade the confidence level of the girls. It could affect their personal character development. Issue comes serious when they start working for a company.

The College has the right to set up its own regulations. If you do not go along with them you should not go to that particular College. Before taking admission these things should be considered in advance.
