cheap manorama newsEvery Indian has the right to or not to exercise his voting rights. The right to exercise voting is confidential and the constitution guarantees these and any violation by any third party is a criminal offence for it violates the norms of the constitution. MalayalaManorama recently brought out an article on Story Dated: Tuesday, November 10, 2009 12:47 hrs IST about how the Collector of Ernakulam and I.G Tomin Thachankery voted for the LDF based on the postal vote analysis. The report goes deep saying that there were a total of 15 votes received and that 5 were invalid and the rest were cast for L.D.F resulting in the above deduction . Isn’t it a violating of constitutional rights? Shouldn’t the watchdogs of the constitution namely the judiciary be taking up this issue? If a prominent news paper like MalayalaManorama can do this without any moral responsibility what would be the fate of others?

The link to the infamous article is here http://www.manoramaonline.com/cgi-bin/MMOnline.dll/portal/ep/malayalamContentView.do?articleType=Malayalam+News&contentId=6225428&tabId=11&contentType=EDITORIAL&BV_ID=@@@

    1. This is really bad. Manorama should not be resorting to such cheap publicity tricks. I dont think they are running out of news. But the irresistible temptation to add some masala then creeps in. Guys, please dont do this. We have some respect for your News paper. Please dont let us down.

thank u kenny for posting this

    2. Haaaa… you respect them !!!

They hold their entire reader base ransom to their business/political agenda. Its time that we established media watch and have every piece of news scrutinized and issued court notices for misleading/wrong information.

    4. Didn’t you know that ‘Manorama’ literally means ‘anything that entertains the mind’, and even after knowing this would you expect anything better from them?

    5. This is just a news report! Under the so said circumstances it became obvious that two people voted for a particular party..wht is wrong in this?

    6. @Vineeth Jose Sometimes the person doesn’t want others to know for which party he had voted for. Confidentiality is an important part of voting. Even if he doesn’t mind, it is an offense. A few years back, Nayanar, our ex-CM showed his ballet paper to the media and his vote was made invalid.

But is it an offense when someone does this after the elections?

    8. [...] after having published thousands of nonsense stuff, Manorama and other media are still thriving. Their sting operations have reached even your ballot paper, still no action against them. Main stream media can do anything and can get away with [...]

    9. …. if manorama could expel leader (k.karunakaran) from power, they can even break riots in kerala.

…. manorama is committed to make money by selling sentiments and sensational news to the weak. that is what they do for years…
