A little girl is crying. Two of her younger ones are all dressed up and ready to go to a family get together. Unfortunately she cant go, she has got catechism classes.
Her parents also wants to take her to the function, many relatives are arriving from different places for the function, its a chance for her to meet many from her family. But they are afraid that they will have to face questions from the catechism teacher and the parish.
After a small fight the girl gave up. We all are getting into the car and driving away, she is looking through the gate as the car fades into the distance.
What feeling will this incident evoke in her mind ? Will she be really happy to attend the religious instruction she is getting today ? Is half a days catechism so important ?
Which is important, Religious instruction or healthy social interaction ?

well what is important … it is a question of perspective … the right thing for the parents to do was to take the child to the catechism class… taken permission from the teacher from the teacher in-charge and taken the child along to see the relatives. This would have thought the child the right thing to do as well as created a pleasant environment at home …

Sorry about going slightly off topic here. Let alone Catechism class, in my opinion , kids should be free of all kinds of religions until the age of 18, and we should teach them about all the religions out there. Let them choose which one they would like to take up in the future(if any).
And here in this case, social interaction should have been the choice. I have been through 10 years of Catechism class, and let me tell you, it was a harrowing experience. I always wanted to go out and play instead of sitting inside yet another class room. Kids get just 2 holidays every week after their hectic school curriculum, let them enjoy for these 2 days at least.
