The following is what happened to my friend, a profitable business and friendship between 2 people in trouble by the clever intervention of an astrologer.
Troubles began when my friends mom consulted an astrologer about his business. The astrologer using his usual techniques predicted that the business partner is not to be trusted and the business will collapse if a big pooja is not conducted immediately.
As I write this, preparations are underway for a pooja which is estimated to cost 3 lakhs. The first cost being a specially made dhoti for the astrologer that costs 5001 Rs.
Now I have a few questions.
1. Can we sue the astrologer for defamation
2. Will he provide a bill for 3 lakhs ? (Black Money)
3. How come people are such big fools ?
invest that 3Lakh in biz that sounds more sensible.
Atleast your friend should in that way cos for a startup firm 3Lakh is not a small amount.

Cant say how much i hate these ppl. but whats the point sueing them when there are thousands who flock for their services. people blindly believe in such things over their own ability and talent. i feel so stupid when some one start talking to me over such miracles and predictions. i have tried my bit for changing some ppl around me..but failed miserably, now all i can do is watch such blunder go on ..

3 lakhs for a pooja ? Cheaters like this astrologer bring shame to Hinduism and India, he must be sued !

There was a big debate about astrology and society on Asianet recently. The Part 2 is some time this week. I personally believe in planetary influences and the general cause and effect. But I dont believe in any Astrologer’s interpretation and prescription of poojas. These pooja’s are basically recital of certain chants. I do not believe an astrologer can influence the Gods to create a favourable outcome on the Client’s son/or the business. (as if they had a secure VPN)
The fact that the Client visited the astrologer and took consultation goes against the client. Therefore, the astrologer has not enticed, coaxed or invited the client to use his service based on any false promise. Nor is an Astrologer regulated by the Indian government.
I think defamation will also not hold good, because the astrologer has not told a 3rd party anything bad about any one with a willfull intent to cause harm. Besides, there are no witnesses in this case which will make it difficult to prove. Reasonable defamation cases itself do not hold well in Indian courts. The costs and time for going legal in India itself make it unworthwhile.
best course is to refrain from such feudal beliefs. Have faith in logic, inputs and outputs which go transaction.

el,,no need to sue d astrologer,,first she need to think wel wat went wong,,analyze d cause of downfall of company,,if ny of these things wont work,start a new astrology company hiring dat astrologer!!
people today r stil believing in astrology,,even for xians The Bible often made several references of it,,bt to believe or not,,it is all up to d common people’s mind!!

First of all want to beet such ppls who approaches such frauds…!!! Besides them some of them are real, by calculating some star predictions. I am not much aware of such things. But most of them are now used this as a profession for fool some ppls like fear to face the life. Note the point that FEAR … yes it is the factor of consulting such fraud astrologers. If the astrologer predict such thing then why your friends mom waiting … give all things that he wanted ..!!! including pocket money
bcz they believe in it.. if anything wrong .. then his mom will tell about it is bcz of avoiding the gr8 predictions ….!!!!

If some fool is ready to pay Rs. 3 lakhs to an astrologer, let he do it. Its far better to break such partnerships than keep such a guy as confidant.

I would have straight away left the venture and see that it collapses and and show that the astrologer was wrong to say the pooja could have prevented its collapse.

u cannot sue an astrologer in legal terms any way nt for defamation in this case. but ur fiend can sue him for cheating if his business fails after puja. its belief and ur friend is nt a business man if he conducts the puja for 3lakhs. i wud say the astrologer was right in saying his business will fail

You cannot sue an astroleger as per Indian Contracts Act, 1872.
IANAL, so consult and lawyer.
If I’m true, a suit cannot be raised under sec. 17, 18, 29, 31 and 36, against the said astroleger.
Astrology and stuff doesn’t come under legal jurisdiction. Even if there was no agreement signed between them, the fact that he said he could bring betterment into business with a pooja (sec. 36, sec. 25, sec. 18).
Again, IANAL, consult a good lawyer.

Well. there seems to be a lot of nay sayers. I am an astrologer and I can accept the challenge of proving that there is something in it. For a small test,
ask me a question.
a. I will tell that what the question is about
b. I will tell you what will happen and when will it happen.
Dont make it too complicated since I consider myself as an amateur and I also reserve the right to consult my GURU.

Dear Anoop the astrologer, Why dont you invest in the stock market. Enlighten your guru on this new concept. That a way you people can make your own living instead of asking people for their money.

I pity your friend for listening to the godman. Some of them had gone underground after the snathosh madhavan incident. Now , I see a lot of new boards and posters announcing poojas , miracles around.
There is also a big Christian missionary business running around trivandrum. Just open your eyes and see the umpteen number of crusades happening every week. It is interesting to note that there is no substantial increase in Christian population in Trivandrum. So these guys must be making a lot of money.
