Hyundai Santa Fe is one among the multiple SUVs and is based on the Sonata platform. The car is the recipient of the IIHS’ Top Safety Pick award 2009. Hyundai’s flagship model it was introduced in the year 2001. Despite facing criticisms from critics the car was well received by the American Buyers. It was awarded 2008 consumers top pick award. The first generation cars were from 2001 to 2006. The second generation was from 2007 till present. The changes made every year from 2001 were only minimal but from 2007 a totally revamped edition was rolled out from the Montgomery, Alabama assembly line along with Hyundai Sonata.
Hyundai Santa FE (Second Generation)
There are three versions for the customer to pick from the GLS, SE and the limited edition . The engine specifications are
2.7L 185 hp (138 kW) V6
3.3L 242 hp (180 kW) V6
2.2L 153 hp (114 kW) Diesel I4
Standard features include all the safety features that were offered and other features which cost extra. The additional features included Electronic stability control side curtain bags, tire pressure monitor, active front head restraints and antilock brakes. The wind shield wiper has a heated grid to remove the ice build up on the glass. Features like the tailgate flip glass and the lower body are not part of standard equipment.
The dashboard are now lit blue away from the customary green present on all other Hyundai Cars models. Other features include a gated shifter pattern, illuminated cup holders, and higher quality leather on Limited models.Child seat anchors are also part of standard equipment. The head rests are shingled sit flush with the top of the seat, helping rear visibility. The middle rear seating position has its own head restraint and a three-point seat belt built in.
THe rear is very spacious as all other SUV’s.
