Today I was fortunate enough to meet the famous director Lal Jose with my friends Nikhil and Varun. They interviewed Lal Jose for almost 3 hours, the interview will be available in their blogs as well as the Neelathamara blog.
Nikhil asked him a question “Continuous release of bad films from super stars are affecting the ability of the audience to evaluate movies. Do you agree ?”
The answer surprised me. He said, there is a movie named passenger that was released 2 days ago. If that movie becomes a financial success, I will say people have not lost the ability to support good movies. It is a good movie, a movie with a change.
He also mentioned the movie many times during the interview. Looks like he is very much impressed with the movie. So I have also decided to see the movie this week itself. Wait for my review.

I saw passenger 3 days back! Its definitely a different attempt in Malayalam cinema but its nothing compared to global cinema (at least Indian-present tamil & hindi ones). Direction needs to improve a lot (hes a newbie and he failed miserably in keeping the pace of the movie as its a one day story). Story though different in Malayalam, we can find a lots of examples in Hollywood and Hindi Films (though “inspired” from Hollywoods…lol). Movie has many drawbacks taking it in the perspective of a CINEMA!

I thought it was a miserable mish-mash of over-acting from Dileep and Ms Mohandas.
The only reason i went to watch is my admiration of Sreenivasan (hopefully reprising one of his ‘common man’ roles). I was not disappointed.
The cinema would have been fine minus those 2 hams and a certain HUGE Deus Ex machina inserted there just to help the writer hype up the drama and tension. I guess the hoi polloi don’t give a fig about that.
emotion manipulation FAIL.
(go ahead, flame me. I’ve already got my share at the office from a bunch, who’ve heard nothing but great reviews; but haven’t actually dragged their respective butts to the movie hall yet. :p)

It seems you did not watch this movie yet. (Not able to find a review in this site.) I saw the movie first day itself and here is my opinion in Chithravishesham: പാസഞ്ചര് (Passenger).

I have not watched the movie. First in my priority list is Angels and demons and then passenger.
