    Yamaha FZ 16 Review

WOW!!!!.This will be the first word coming from anyone who see the all new Yamaha FZ 16. When i saw this Yamaha FZ 16 bike for the first time, i was completely shocked by this great stylish featured bike only for Rs.65000 and im sure that its gonna hit the Indian roads and everyone would go for this bike instead of going to pulsor and at times pulsor was a no:1 leading bike in India and this time I’m Dam sure that this Yamaha FZ 16 bike would lead the roles and this would be the no:1.

FZ 16 also has India’s first “140/60-17” size rear radial with a 60% aspect ratio contributes to better grip and handling stability. To achieve sufficient cooling effect, the cylinder head on the FZ16 engine is designed with especially large fins as well as a shroud (air intake cowl) to effectively direct airflow to the engine…

    FZ16 SPECS
    Engine: type Air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve
    Displacement: 153.0cm3
    Bore & Stroke: 58.0 × 57.9mm
    Compression ratio: 9.5:1
    Maximum output: 14PS / 7500 rpm
    Maximum torque: 14 N.m / 6000 rpm
    Carburetor: type BS26
    Clutch: Constant mesh wet multiplate
    Transmission: type Return type 5-speed
    Frame: Diamond
    Suspension (front/rear): Telescopic / Monocross
    Wheelbase: 1,335mm
Brake (front/rear): Hydraulic single disc / drum
    Tire size (front/rear): 100/80-17 / 140/60-R17
    Overall Length × Width × Height: 1,975mm × 770mm × 1,045mm
    Seat height: 790mm
    Wheelbase: 1,335mm
    Minimum ground clearance: 160mm
    Dry weight/Curb weight: 126 kg / 137 kg
    Fuel tank volume: 12 liters
    Engine oil volume: 1.2 liters

Now the Yamaha FZ16 is trying to recapture the lost glory, and the name is a step in the right direction. The LCD tachometer is absolutely a waste of money coz the design made me to say so. Yamaha FZ16 is available in three colors – Lava Red, Flaming Orange and Midnight Black..

    clip_image003

    clip_image004

The price of the Yamaha FZ16 is also a digestible. The cost of the FZ is around 65K-70K..When we take the case of mileage it will give around 45km per litre..I don’t think it’s a bad mileage if it give this much output..

And am sure that this naked bike of Yamaha gonna rock this Indian roads..

    18. Hi guys,

This bike is capable of giving you acceptable mileage (fuel consumption) if the bike settings are good, and if driven well.
I was able to get an average of 53 kms on my drive to Shivneri fort. Of these 53 kms, I had to ascend a four km ghat in 2nd/3rd gear. So my bike is capable of giving me a mileage of 55+ under economic riding conditions. I mentioned ‘economic riding conditions’ because my bike is within the first servicing period and I did not exceed 4000rpm when I got this average. So to answer your question about mileage… if you want the thrill and dont care about mileage, this bike has got what you want. On days when you want good mileage, just compromise on speed and ride sanely, and this bike will return approximately 55km/L

    46. Hi..

I got my fz 16 on April 6th 2010. It’s better than any indian bike in the market. Now I have ride almost 4000Kms and I feel some vibrations in bike. Maximum speed I’ve reached 85Km/h. Because sri lankan roads are very busy at the moment.

Only issue i have at this stage vibration of the bike. Please aware me your experiances on this.

      Dhanushka.

    47. Read many comments about the mileage of the bike and would like to0 point out the many had varied opinion.

I bought the bike on 1st November 2008 and ride the bike like a maniac….max speed 115. But this amazing beast still manages to give me around 30-35Kmpl in city. The bike has crossed 20000 km. Initially when i was riding the bike with a sane mind it used to give around 40- 45Kmpl.

The decision is your the bike gives u the mileage according to the way u ride.

Must say the bike is still in amazing condition

      Comment by Prince of demons — July 11, 2010 @ 11:39 am

    48. FZ150 is nice but only for forst 2/3 yrs after that it would loose its excitement as usual! FZ teuly gives 35kmpl in 90% case (city).
I would suggest you guys (BRAVE GUYS) better buy a Bullet350 that would give around same milage 30-35kmpl. You will get great riding pleasure and enrich Indian Heritage as well. It is super durable too!

FZ..etc etc these bikes are developed to capture young mind and just to do business over poor India. These mechines are rubbish in most of the cases where we need a tough and reliable vehicle.

Think it, hope you will agree.

    51. hi i m riding fz16 from last 2 years,the average is 42km/l,somtimes average goes down,there are some factors:

Air pressure in rear tyre always shold b 40,dont go even 38.
Depends upon rider while picking up,or riding in rough style.
And the main is Petrol pump u have chosen.(specially in gzb petrol pump is main problem they always plays some tricks while filling, and the whole credit goes to poor byk)bcz i have crosschecked it with a fixed bottle of 2lit.

    72. Hello everyone, I own an FZ16 for last 2.5 Years.
Here is what I have to say -

      The mileage : 35+ KMs
Maintenance : Similar to a Pulsar
Handling : Easy on road, great power, easy to control
      Looks : Excellent
Attention / Presence on the road : Great
Value for money : 4 star

Those who are looking for a mileage of 45+ KMs, this bike may not be for you.
However, once you buy it, you would love it & you may ignore mileage.

Summary : If you have the budget & do not travel 30KMs+ per day (or don’t care about the mileage); this is the muscular machine you need to have.

      Cheers,
      K
