I blog about changes for the better and about things that restrict them from happening - @AravindJose

Postal Department of Kottayam distrcit have taken some good steps to promote the use of greeting cards this Christmas Season. They’ve been accused by the people for the delay in timely delivery during festival seasons. It seems that, this time, they want to change the things for the good.

It was the sorting part that caused delays all through the years. Cards addressed to Ethiopia and Ettumanoor will be in the box together. Now, they’ve kept 4 separate color coded post boxes especially for greeting cards.

    1. Blue – Overseas
    2. White – India
    3. Yellow – Within Kerala
    4. Green – Within Kottayam

It’s obvious that this will make a the sorting process more effective and productive. This could be seen as a sincere effort from the Postal Department, which has been facing constant decrease in postal activity in Kerala, which is, at most times, attributed to Internet. On this, the Postal Department needs to be appreciated and here we do that. :)

I’m not sure, whether this is introduced in other districts/states. But, it would be great if done.

Also, they’ve made an attractive custom-designed-BIG-post-box with Christmas graphics on it, as part of promotion. It looks nice.

    1. Hey
This was there in Sasthamangala PO, Trivandrum at least 15 years back.
I wonder why it too so long to reach Kottayam.
