A friend of mine sent me this forward a while back.. It had a few pictures of the Gateway Peace March that was held on Dec 3rd..
Seeing the people and the banners, the hate that was being directed at the politicians was obvious…
I can’t help echoing the sentiment..
The fact that those dogs are using the Mumbai tragedy as an election pitch is enraging, to say the least…
But, there are a few things I still don’t understand… Like..
1. What is the use of all these politicians quitting on ‘moral grounds’?
For one, that is going to do absolutely nothing !! Maybe an even more incompetent idiot will get elected to the post..
All the fuss that we are seeing will last maybe three months.. And then what??
Back to square one?? India is open for business to terrorists??
Now, I’m not exactly sympathising with them..
I respect a politician as much as I respect chicken shit that is ten days old, and has been trodden underfoot several times…
But.. How do you expect the politicians to be responsible if they have the license toquit and run at the first sign of trouble??
2. What is the purpose of politics??
What exactly do we gain from letting these dogs loose on our streets..??
Is there a gain?? Do we get anything useful from the endless trash talking that goes on between the opposing sides?
Why can’t we have a system that elects the truly deserving to the posts that matter..
What system is capable of doing that??
3. Does one have to subscribe to an ideology to serve his/her country?
If I want to help govern this country, is it imperative that I be a Hindu extremist, or a Communist, or whatever.. Can’t I just believe in what I believe in?
Why is it that only if you join hands with a really big political organisation will you be able to play true power politics??
I know, have seen, and heard of politicians who have criminal records.. Murders, rapes, and what not..
Are these the people who we are banking on to run our country?
If it is, then be prepared to witness more carnage..
4. Why old men??
I read a survey which stated that 41% of India’s population is made up of the youth community..
Then how come our country is run by old, corrupted, and clueless old men??
Victims of the system again?
You have to spend years getting corrupted by the system, so that you can hold an office of power, and stand to gain from it??
Whatever may be the problems and the plausible solutions, one thing can nobody dispute is the fact that this country is surely in a pitiable state.. India shining?? Yeah right, more like India Burning…
How are we expected to compete with the super powers if nothing is done??
What can be done?? And who’s gonna do it??

Hmm, I see a lot of rant about the politicians, but unfortunatly only 1-2 of my 500 odd chat friends is ready to get his hands dirty with politics. everyone else is just ranting about it.
About old men, its the law, you need to be 25 to stand for a MP or a MLA…given the ammount of ass, i mean footlicking…it will take a lot of time for someone to stand for it.
Also, why do we have this powerless government? The first person of the country has no power, but the prime minister has everything. the people elect the state party, who have no say in the national game….all elected people of the country are puppets who then elect the their best foot lickers to the powerful posts.
For the records, I do intend to join politics sometime later in life

Bro,
I know it’s the law.. But, what I was asking was if it was fair.. And anyhow, 25 is still part of the youth community.. But, we don’t see many people that age, or even below 35 sitting in powerful posts do we?
And, maybe we should have only two political parties, that is, if we must have them at all..
And, you gonna join politics?? Grr.. I think I smell an enemy..

Say ppl who have commanded over the nation like Ratan Tata or Narayana Murthy join politics. How long will it take for them to form a government and be able to make some concrete decisions to guide the nation?
The issue is ppl can’t directly vote for either of them because it is the legislature which selects the government. And for that, either leader will need to have 270 odd winnable candidates to have a proper say in the affairs of the state. Otherwise, join hands with the same politicians we crib about
It will be difficult for either to have a big say. Now, what can a political rookie do? If the person stays away frm the existing political community, s/he’ll can kiss any chances of being part of a goverment good bye. And without any power, ppl lose interest in the person because s/he cannot fulfill their promises.
We need to change the political system in the country. Then only will anyone be actually be able to do anything productive politically for the country

Unfortunately there is no existence for a democratic nation without politics. We have chosen the best way of people’s administration rather than autocratic ways. But the people who chose to enter the system have ’service’ as the last word in their agenda.
To think of it, I believe ours is much more stable than the kind of leadership we see in our neighbouring countries including China. As you said, a motivated and patriotic youth is what this country needs and Mumbai 26/11 has triggered the kind of spark they needed.
