CUSAT organized the National Conference on Free Software. The truth is that the event was hijacked by the communists. The main organizers had no clue as to what they were doing and event was a total mess. Some of the speakers didnt know where to go an take sessions.
Just take a look at the conference website. http://nfm2008.atps.in/
Looks like some first generation internet page. How pathetic.
The troubles began when FSF guys posted some notices and started distributing pamphlets which contained a charge sheet against Novell (which says Novell betrayed Free Software). Democratic way of protest right ? Was Novell the issue here, or the fact that FSF was sidelined by the CUSAT authorities which is ruled by the commies.
Anyways, some manhandling happened. Did the police do it or some crazy politically motivated organizers ? Someone was hurt, to be exact Anivar, a core FSF activist.
Anyways the issue is being reported as - FSF protester was manhandled for protesting against Novell. Was he manhandled for protesting against Novell ? Or was it for protesting against the organisers from CUSAT ?
Here is the official statement from SMC about the incident. Does it tell the whole truth ?

“Novell betrayed the Free Software community by violating the spirit of the GNU General Public license” ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള നോവല് ഒരു Free Software Conference - ല് എങ്ങനെ കടന്നു കൂടി.

” hijacked by the communists ” , its interesting, its their nature to control every one and every thing.
Even though they supporting the open source, in state syllabus promotes Gnu/Linux .

culprit:- novell and the authorities involved. It was a peaceful protest, which was lead to a commotion and physical game by the unnecessary involvement of organizers. They should have thought twice before continuing with availing sponsorship from Novell..
