Eloping Girls - Vanitha Blames Mobiles Phones

Post Page Rank

Vanitha is back with another emotional and touchy story, this time its and the blame goes to mobiles phones. Looks like Vanitha is pissed at mobile phone companies, for not advertising in it. I cant think of any other logical reason as to why Manorama and is doing so much of propaganda against .

This time also the pattern is the same. Touching stories, emotional words, and scary interpretations. According to them the flesh trade in India is worth 43,000 Crores an year. I didnt know that all the pimps were submitting their annual business report to .

The most disgusting thing is that they are blaming for girls eloping from their homes. According to them - “Everything starts from a missed call”. How about rewriting the book of genesis ?

Other women’s magazine are also copying the style. Latest GrahaLakhsmi says that children are getting away from their parents and are having a secret world of their own. They also have many stories to support their arguments. Looks like they also mastered the art.

There is nothing to fear more than the fear itself. And Manorama is using the fear of unknown or fear of something that has happened like one in a million for making a buck - Domestic Avalanche

Other Nonsense from and Malayala Manorama

Manorama Publications has different targets. And what Vanitha focusses is on home sitting housewives who arent aware of the development of the outerworld. Now a days can u find a single student in College without a Mobile Phone?
I’ve also written a similar article

Yes, FDR said that there is nothing to fear than fear itself.

Manorama is doing this fear-mongering to make a fast buck. But then again, according to their business model, they have to sell more copies.

What would sell more?

1) A rosy story about the advantages of the mobile phones and how the young generation can use it to advance their goals and aims.

or

2) A scary story about demons waiting in the mobile phones and how the young generation is being sold out/converted into zombies with the cell phone use.

It will sell more.

Another aspect that you should look at is the subscriber/reader base of Vanitha and other magazines. There was a time Vanitha did a wonderful job in bringing the news and education in the magazine form.

Also, think about the shift of subscriber/reader demographics. A generation ago, in the late 70s and 80s Vanitha did a wonderful job in enlightening the masses and the readers were described as well informed.

The situation now is scary. Like my friends Linjo says it is aimed now at the low information readers who were catered a generation ago by the “MA” weeklies. The true informed now have access to better sources of information and news.

So Kenney, I would say, it is only about a business decision. To whore out the publication for a better bottom line at the account books.

Kenney,

Think about to spread out this news, and why can’t we gather all the bloggers and start some campaign against this third rate fishy stories???

Like all bloggers in kerala, stood together against the copyright violation by kerals.com. who steal some photos and poems of some fellow bloggers in boologam.

Think about it..

// I didnt know that all the pimps were submitting their annual business report to Vanitha. //

good one :P you are de man !!

so, no one eloped before mobile phone was invented ??
there was no flesh trade before mobile phones ? come on, we had considered it as spiritual too, once ..

If this could be stopped so could be the underworld years ago. Coz all are under the so called people or community called Mafia. What they aim for is money at the end, not rolling money the safe solid black money. They sell and buy the same.
Manorama and Vanitha are good examples, thats all.
the thigs that can be done is
1)to unify the magazines under one roof.
2)Choose a government by the people (which is yuck now, now its not by the people, its behind the people).
3)Use the word mono for every primary requirement provider in our country.
4)Let money play the game after the 25th fowl play, till then let the brains do work(of the people).
5)Let people make the roof for government for their own benefit(no one care for anything now, for the people is now let some one else come first).

Kenney,

I don’t read Vanitha or any such sensational ‘Ma’gazines. Do not know about any statistics and basics for Vanitha blaming mobile phones.

But one thing I am sure. Mobile Phone has a lot of impact in eloping, and divorces too. If you look around you will find many examples.

All of us depend on the mobile and SMS for our bread; still we should accept its negative side too!

It is not mobile phone - take any latest technology - it has both positive and negative side also. We don’t see it in our day to day life because we work with the most educated thinking people.

Orkut and other social networking sites are also prone to such problems.

Don’t we write sensational topics in the blog to get more readership? :-) Vanitha too does the same, Simple!

rofl @ ” I didnt know that all the pimps were submitting their annual business report to Vanitha.”

What can I say, the sh*t keeps pouring out of MM presses.

The best I can do I point out the glaringly bad journalism in MM publications to all my friends and relatives. Thankfully, some are actually quite intelligent and do realize the fact.

I was thinking of doing something sensational and silly on the streets of TVM, as an act. How much you wanna bet I’ll make it to the infamous MM front page? Any dog can appear on MM’s front page. Just say or preach something that the majority’s belief systems cannot cope with; and you’re an MM frontpage material.

@Sree

We send off our kids to schools and colleges and atleast some of them find lovers and elope from there. Would you blame the education system for that ?

We are the problem here, not the tools we use.

I congrats the kids for that. I don’t mind kids eloping, if they know what they are doing. Everyone should take their own decision, if they are capable enough to do so.

We are the problem here, not the tools we use.

True, then why should we blame Vanitha too? Is Vanitha the problem in Kerala for all the bad things happening?

Who are we to even blame someone else, because all of us are the problem here.

Aren’t we too biased and selfish, because we don’t like anyone saying anything negative about mobile phones or sms? :-D

Instead, Vanitha can teach the youth some inspirational, motivational stories and talk explicitly about Love and Sex.
This way they can educate the youth well through their parents

Hi Kenny,

The things you said are absolutely true only.Since long time they started to publish this like nasty misleading articles through their most popular dailys and mags. Everybody knows the measurements of minds of this magz usual readers.ofcourse most of them are ‘Vanithakal’ (ladies). They were not ready to identify which are wrong and which are right but suddenly accepted as real facts of life.

#12 Anish K.S on 10.11.08 at 2:10 pm

@ Dinesh Uthayakumar, you are Correct. Both Vanitha and Grihalakshmi Publishing articles about Sugar,Colestrol etc. and in the same issues they publishing the recipes of Beaf,Chicken,Mutton recipes (Cause to be bad health). and they are offering free gifts like 50 g.m Masala Pckt, Sample sops etc.

Yes Technology has it bad and good sides as well. But something that pisses me off is that - nobody really wants to accept that it is the fault of the people who are using the technology and not the fault of the technology itself.

As for Vanitha and other mag’s - unfortunately we have a crowd of idiot’s who would rather believe every word written by these mag’s - rather than find out the truth.

Yes Vanitha is responsible to some extent for numbing the growth of a state like Kerala - which has almost 100% literacy! Mag’s like Vanitha have been shouting out the un-truth for such a long time that - for the people in Kerala that is the only source of truth.

Yes we are the problem - though we have almost 100% literacy - we are not able to think for ourselves - no wonder we are still one of the most economically backward states in India! (Yea Kerala is one of the most economically backward states! all that money you are seeing is all from Non Resident Keralites…)

Unfortunately all the media in India seems to be taking the same path and soon it will be so bad that, their marketing managers will be saying “Feed them any bullshit and they will still sit and watch”. A classic example is how serials have managed to hook down house wifes - in the half an hour that they telecast - the story runs hardly for 5 minutes, another 10 minutes is dedicated to the camera man and the computer effects generator to show the same shot’s in different angle with different effects, another 10 minutes for commercials and what is left of the 5 minutes is a song!

How pathetic! what a waste of time!

And unless people like us start talking about this we will turn out to be as stupid as the Americans - who dont even know where Iraq is!

Good work Kenney.

Watch that!!!!!!!!

That is what happens when you are feed with too much bullshit! Lighter moments of Life I guess…..:)

#16 Domestic Avalanche on 10.11.08 at 7:39 pm

@Sree,

What you are saying makes sense if Vanitha has been writing about both sides of the story.

Also, since you admit that you do not read Vanitha regularly you are not aware of this campaign.

Actually, this is part of a malicious campaign against cell phones that has been happening over the last few years.

Again, JMJ is right. The reader base of Vanitha is being fed with this BS for a long time and this is alarming when they depend on Vanitha for most of their opinions.

All Vanitha is exploiting is the fear of unknown.

#17 scorpiogenius on 10.12.08 at 3:33 am

Is any soul here surprised by this article on Vanitha? MM Publications use all kinds of cheap tricks up their sleeve to sell out their rot, and this just happens to be another filthy example…
