At last Tata Motors introduced their all new Indica Vista on August 23rd at the recent Auto show. They made lotz of changes in Indica Vista in both design and in performance. To compare with the older version of Indica, the interior is very much different. The new interior is somewhat similar to Chevrolet Spark. And the length and height has been increased. And bout the engine…… its none other than 75 BHP fiat
Now people have the choice to settle by using the same engine in three different cars, Maruti Swift, Fiat Multijet,Indica Vista. Obviously there will be a healthy competition between these cars. But in the case of Indica Vista we have to wait little more time to test drive the car. The main problem Tata is facing is that, their customers are not at all satisfied with their previous products. They were not 100% perfect. Tata Motors just want to establish as the no 1 seller.
The price ranges from Rs.3.49 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi for the 1.2L petrol Tata Indica Vista Safire at the low end going upto Rs.4.88 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi for the top end 1.3L VistaQuadrajet. The Indica Vista TDi version comes at nearly the same price as the outgoing existing Indica V2 version. And also Indica Vista is available in 7 colours. And about mileage Indica Vista will give in a range of 18-20km per litre for the diesel version.
But in the case of Indica Vista am very much interested because I think they tried to make some difference in their quality. Definitely Indica Vista will have a healthy competition with Maruti Swift . Tata vehicles are very noisy and their vibration is something like we traveling in train over here. So the first question people may ask is , Is Vista will be as silent as Swift????……
Lets hope that this new born baby will make some kinda cracks in other cars.. And I will surely update this review after test drive of all new Indica Vista……

our first family car used to be a tata estate which was the king of the roads and the first step by tata at a passenger car.
They obvious had problems with the engine noise (clue: truck) and glaring panel gaps in the body.
With the indica it was a big leap and i am dead sure the vista will not live up to the name created by microsoft. it will be nice and good one to own
And its cheaper than the swift and tatas are known for their cheap spares.

the tata folks are trying to create a brand something to stature which was once enjoyed by maruti zen.
It nice to see that they are improving but then again the competiton is also coming good, so i don’t believe that this vehicle will capture the market the way swift diesel did.

the new interior feels like… atlast tata is realizing what people want..vista has got nice looks + better engine (way better the old indica…phewwwwwwwwww…) good review dude… i never knew these facts …..

Console is moved to centre so that they can have same model for both Indian and export market (left hand side drive)- A cost cutting initiative and driver will have to divert his attention to look at the console.
Top end is 1.4 litre I guess.

Hey Vineeth
That’s some good stuff there. I confess I don’t know much about cars, but I can see that you’ve done some serious research on the matter. Good work. Well, at least I can vouch for one thing. The Tata Indigo that we’ve is more at the service and less at the parking lot. So I guess that speaks for itself. And let’s hope the Indica Vista turns out to be remarkable.

@ Kenney, vista was tarnished by MS…..now tata will set the name right
thats all i meant.

My first car to use was Maruthi 800, after 5years of use we bought a Tata Indica V2 DLG. To be frank, my father who have ride Lexus high class to BMW 75X series and benz high ends (he is in to general services, not a manager
) what he says is, he is a big fan of Indica what we are using for its heavy stearing and excellent space.
(i have tested)

You know what, I too am so in touch with that car as I am the one who use it the most, now my mother even my uncle take it for a lavish trip.
About the sound, I personally dont feel that junky sound from insidee the vehicle, but outside its noisy.
I dont think there is any other car with such leg space and heavy stearing as Indica (atleast the V2 series and petrol series), not even swift or toyota corrolla
Hope its new series will keep up the standard.

one big difference I have noticed with Indian cars is the quality of the Interiors…they feel and look cheap (well what do you expect for what you pay?) hopefully Tata will catch up with its association with Jaguar.
Comment by JMJ — October 2, 2008 @ 5:09 pm
@JMJ, interior of all cars are average, but never less.
I really suspect about the Jaguar tie up, Tata-Jaguar & Range Rover is really gonna get flopp, as thats the market. But lets see what new strategy the tie up is bringing.
Con about the new Indica Vista is tat, it lacks fog lamps and rear fog defrozer.
No additional packups like audio system and leather seats or dash board.
Its a new body design with a new engine. Thats all (I meant no other addons).
Comment by SAF — October 2, 2008 @ 6:21 pm
@ SAF, are you sure about not getting the addons? I remember seeing the full option car which had all those you mentioned. not sure about the leather seats.
Comment by TheAnand — October 2, 2008 @ 6:48 pm
@Anand,
I heard so, after all not sure if its official announcement. Logically thinking i believe it is fake, coz they have to keep the standard as previous one right. Or else its going to be reall sporty to avoid many addons.
Lets wait for the official brochure.
Comment by SAF — October 4, 2008 @ 12:25 pm
@Anand,
What I heard was absoluteley wrong, did you watch the advertisement? tHere are foglamps (the small one), not sure about the defrozer.
Comment by SAF — October 5, 2008 @ 12:06 pm
This is said to be the official brochure

Yes, That is the one I got…I had gone to a roadside display of the indica (not vista) and they gave me this thing. I remember seeing, but had an element of doubt.
But the only thing I currently have for the swift is its resale value which unlike the indica is good.
Comment by TheAnand — October 5, 2008 @ 6:05 pm
Since vista is with fiat collaboration and considering fiat’s resale value, I believe vista will be a great down time for buyers. But lets hope for the best as its TATA

Indica Vista TDi have the same engine and almost same price as IndigoCS. So sedan is a better option.

why the people think that tata never make the good cars, If you forget I will remember you that 1st diesel car in india is launched by the tata and most of the diesel cars of tata and they are running very good. So why you people still believe that the tata is not upto mark,
Comment by bharat khanna — January 22, 2009 @ 3:01 pm
Maybe because they think Indians are not good enough.
But there is something that I would like to add here. American cars are really comfortable.
Comment by Kenney Jacob — January 23, 2009 @ 10:07 am
Vista has a good sporty look, a contrast to the ugly spike ended Swift. It’s interiors too are good, have great features. Moreover, Vista is out there with many colors to choose from, which would be one the best ones amongst the hatchbacks!
Sure a new design.

Got my Aura Quadrajet on march 27th.
It’s nice to drive. I’m planning to upgrade the it with a amplifies and 2 good woofers.
Comment by Girish — April 11, 2009 @ 6:52 pm
i still feel that we indians give more priority to the looks than exactly what comfort we want….there is no comparison between vista leg space and swift…the engines are same….vista spares are cheaper…what else u want….i owe a quadrajet top model…..everytime i drive, i feel like i am driving a real car…recommended
Comment by AVANENDRA — May 23, 2009 @ 2:46 pm
HI I am looking to buy aura saffire, which is costin g4.42 lcs in bangalore. City mileage would not be more than 12-13 km/l from this car. The internal features look plush to me and seems very pulling….else than that I dont know much abt cars as this would be my first car.As this is a fully loaded car, any other car on road comparision with same features would be expensive or same. I already have stretched my budget for it. Please suggest me what to do as I am a normal lower middle class bachelor and aspire to buy a car as its been long time dream….if I wont be able to decide about it ,I will buy an Alto LXi and load some basic features thats it…please suggest as in today’s scenario every one can buy a car but maintaining is very challanging.,…whom to listen …to my heart(vista aura saffire) or my mind(alto lxi)?Every one welcome to give true openion just like a real friend in need.
Comment by kishore kumar — August 27, 2009 @ 4:02 pm
We have purchased a new indica vista aura(Quadrajet)in November. We went to indica vista because it is very spaciious and comportable. We are having Maruthi 800 and also Alto Lxi but the comportable compared to indica, I feel indica vista deserves it. Now the engine they are using is Fiat, thats the main reason we went to indica vista, the same engine is also using in the swift. The look and design of indica vista is reaaly good and also we can get in different colors. We are using it for the fast two months but i didn’t faced any problem at all and also it looks totally different compare older versions.
