Kochi International Trade and Exhibition Center

A 100 storied building to be completed in Cochin in 2010 ? I couldn’t believe it when I heard it for the first time. Kinfra is doing it and they already have appointed a consultant for the design work. The building will come up in Kalamassery.

These are some of the highlights.

  • 56 lakh sqft area
  • 30 floors will be a 5 star hotel
  • Parking space for 22000 cars
  • Half a kilometer tall
  • 5 floors convention and exhibition center

Finally Cochin is also in the big league

Do you know, on Current records, KITC is scheduled to be India’s largest tower. It will also be considered into list of Tall bulidings of Asia, as there are less than 75 bldgs under this category.

You would be suprised to know, Kochi will also be another First in year 2010, when South Asia’s largest Mall will be opened. Lulu International Mall, which is around 20 Lakh Sq, with Asia’s largest Entertainment hub in it. It will 4th largest Mall in Asia, if Dubai Mall project is delayed.

On papers, there are some more firsts……….

    1. India’s first and South Asia’s largest Marina terminal

    2. World’s 6th Aeropolis- at CIAL (otherwise it would be 7th, if delayed till 2015, as in year 2015- Al Maktoum Airport is scheduled to open to join in league of Aeropolis)

    3. Asian’s Largest and World’s most hi-tech Oceanrium, at Puthuyippin, scheduled to be opened by 2017.

    4. World’s first Sky City scheduled to open in 2014, (if Dubai’s Cloud City takes off before, this title would be lost)

    5. South Asia’s largest Integrated Cruise Terminal.

    6. India’s largest Marina Mall (Marina Mall of DLF) scheduled to open on 2012.

    7. World’s largest Commodities Stock Exchange- Year 2020

Isn’t suprising………….. But its true…….. Some of the projects have already started………. But worries, is that IS OUR CITY ready to digest these mega projects?

Yeah - this is a problem - we need to better the infrastructure in Cochin like build bigger roads, etc. We are already having trouble with rapid development.

    @Binny VA,

Yeah, what you said is right…….. I would say, despite of having 7 way dual carriage roads at Dubai and Kulalampur of Malaysia, it would take atleast 2 hours to cover a distance of 10 km, due to heavy traffic congestion.

Then imagine the condition of kochi, just having 2 lane as well as 4 lane roads……. Without these itself, it would take minimum 1 hour to cover similar distance. Imagine, how much hour, one take, to travel from Lulu Mall in North Bypass to Marina towers in Marine Drive, if these things happen…………..

Hehehehehehehehehehehe………… We need ideas to develop pull out this city from hell…………

heheheheheehehhe, kenneyji, what you said right….. Perhaps Kochi would be the first city in the world to have AeroMetro as a mode of Public transport……………….

Sometimes by end of 2015, we may need to book Maruti Aero- The flying car, to live in kochi….. Rightly Said……..

Do you know, Kochi is Planning to have Sky road, ie One road in parallel to exisiting road, BUT VERTICAL……. That means, you have 4 South Overbridges, one over other……… One of the City’s leading architect S Gopakumar has submitted this design to GCDA, which has forwarded to Cochin Corporation for detailed introspection and viablity.

    HOW IS THIS IDEA?

Idea is good, but considering the history of projects in Kerala, I dont think all this is going to happen.

The Kchi Trade Centre wont be the tallest building in India. The tallest building proposedij india so far is Lanco hills in Hyderabad.

Few of the above mentioned projects in Kochi has been in Papers for long time now.

Two years back there were few more citiies”fashion city” (i forgot the other city name)and some more cities. All are gone now.Smart cIty is has reached nowhere.

The gainers of all these projects(paper) are the builders of kochi. The sold a hell lot of flats.

About the sky city, its proposed by Yasoram Group. They are not able to sell a flat, how they are going to manage a big project like this and this will be there for ever as a proposed project.
