Hi, I am Kenney Jacob, love blogging about Education, Media hypocrisy and Social Issues.

A 100 storied building to be completed in Cochin in 2010 ? I couldn’t believe it when I heard it for the first time. Kinfra is doing it and they already have appointed a consultant for the design work. The building will come up in Kalamassery.

These are some of the highlights.

    • 56 lakh sqft area
    • 30 floors will be a 5 star hotel
    • Parking space for 22000 cars
    • Half a kilometer tall
    • 5 floors convention and exhibition center

Finally Cochin is also in the big league

    4. Do you know, on Current records, KITC is scheduled to be India’s largest tower. It will also be considered into list of Tall bulidings of Asia, as there are less than 75 bldgs under this category.

You would be suprised to know, Kochi will also be another First in year 2010, when South Asia’s largest Mall will be opened. Lulu International Mall, which is around 20 Lakh Sq, with Asia’s largest Entertainment hub in it. It will 4th largest Mall in Asia, if Dubai Mall project is delayed.

On papers, there are some more firsts……….

      1. India’s first and South Asia’s largest Marina terminal

      2. World’s 6th Aeropolis- at CIAL (otherwise it would be 7th, if delayed till 2015, as in year 2015- Al Maktoum Airport is scheduled to open to join in league of Aeropolis)

      3. Asian’s Largest and World’s most hi-tech Oceanrium, at Puthuyippin, scheduled to be opened by 2017.

      4. World’s first Sky City scheduled to open in 2014, (if Dubai’s Cloud City takes off before, this title would be lost)

      5. South Asia’s largest Integrated Cruise Terminal.

      6. India’s largest Marina Mall (Marina Mall of DLF) scheduled to open on 2012.

      7. World’s largest Commodities Stock Exchange- Year 2020

Isn’t suprising………….. But its true…….. Some of the projects have already started………. But worries, is that IS OUR CITY ready to digest these mega projects?

      > But worries, is that IS OUR CITY ready to digest these mega projects?
Yeah – this is a problem – we need to better the infrastructure in Cochin like build bigger roads, etc. We are already having trouble with rapid development.

    6. @Binny VA,

Yeah, what you said is right…….. I would say, despite of having 7 way dual carriage roads at Dubai and Kulalampur of Malaysia, it would take atleast 2 hours to cover a distance of 10 km, due to heavy traffic congestion.

Then imagine the condition of kochi, just having 2 lane as well as 4 lane roads……. Without these itself, it would take minimum 1 hour to cover similar distance. Imagine, how much hour, one take, to travel from Lulu Mall in North Bypass to Marina towers in Marine Drive, if these things happen…………..

Hehehehehehehehehehehe………… We need ideas to develop pull out this city from hell…………

    7. Looks like we will need personal helicopters to travel in cochin.

    8. heheheheheehehhe, kenneyji, what you said right….. Perhaps Kochi would be the first city in the world to have AeroMetro as a mode of Public transport……………….

Sometimes by end of 2015, we may need to book Maruti Aero- The flying car, to live in kochi….. Rightly Said……..

Do you know, Kochi is Planning to have Sky road, ie One road in parallel to exisiting road, BUT VERTICAL……. That means, you have 4 South Overbridges, one over other……… One of the City’s leading architect S Gopakumar has submitted this design to GCDA, which has forwarded to Cochin Corporation for detailed introspection and viablity.

      HOW IS THIS IDEA?

    9. Arun Mohan, whats all that about the Sky City? Are you speaking about the one by Yasoram????

    10. Idea is good, but considering the history of projects in Kerala, I dont think all this is going to happen.

    11. The Kchi Trade Centre wont be the tallest building in India. The tallest building proposedij india so far is Lanco hills in Hyderabad.

Few of the above mentioned projects in Kochi has been in Papers for long time now.

Two years back there were few more citiies”fashion city” (i forgot the other city name)and some more cities. All are gone now.Smart cIty is has reached nowhere.

The gainers of all these projects(paper) are the builders of kochi. The sold a hell lot of flats.

About the sky city, its proposed by Yasoram Group. They are not able to sell a flat, how they are going to manage a big project like this and this will be there for ever as a proposed project.

    17. As long as the communists and congress with some grand old men at the helm with no foreseeable prowess rule our land, I am not hopeful about any of the abovementioned projects. They are not even thinking about today. They are still living in the past. First you got to get the basic infrastructure right. Then only any developement can happen. Unless some dynamic rulers with the ability to plan for today and for future comes along, this land is not going to be like any developed nation.

    18. Juss look at the unfinished flyovers in kerala and mainly in cochin. There are atleast 10 of them that I know of which were started more than 10 years back. Either the central portion above the railway line is missing or only the central portion is built with no ramp towards it… 10 years!… Roads are the main arteries of development unless they are planning to transfer high end investors in bullock carts.

    19. Hello iam sam .Sky city proposed in kochi is Asias first sky city .But World’s first sky city is proposed in calicut not in kochi .Please correct it .Visit yasoram builders site. All projects mentioned in this blog are paper projects including smart city .Dont belive in all theese .Just belive what is made practical.
This is just an crooked idea of builder’s lobby inorder to fool the people. That is why they are claiming world’s first and asia’s first. If you go to any small or large city in the world they can claim 10 or 20 or 100 worlds first or only projects .so there is no use claiming all theese. So please end this as nothing is being practical in cochin and calicut.
When someone goes to cochin reding all theese ,then he will make kochi an international joker.what the present position in kochi is very poor.I think a one 42 storied building is designed for kochi but two 43 storied building is designed for calicut which will be the largest tower in kerala and the site is claiming that. But theese two buildings are now only in paper.
Lanco hills in hyderabad(125 storied ) is under construction so it is true but kochi international trade centre’s design is not yet made.A 100 storied tower is also coming in Hyderabad and a more tahn 100 storied building is coming in Gujarat.I think a 155 storied building is coming in Bangalore known as bangalore turf towers which i see in Bangalore blog which will be the largest in the world. Also i heared about a 160 storied building in Delhi known as Noida tower .You can belive in that because it is in Bangalore not in Kochi.

    20. we dwell and dream on “big” projects in Kerala, forget the 100 storey building, wish the roads were widened and the area kept clean. Which is something I do not see in Cochin or Kerala for a very long time…we keralites love to eve tease, comment on women, drink as if there is no tomorrow and go to GELF….thats it!
