I had booked a Maruti Swift Dzire 3 months back. At the time of booking the agent told me that Ill get the vehicle in a months time. A month passed without any information from the dealer. So I decided pay them a visit. The dealer said that there is heavy booking for the vehicle and it would take another 2 more months. I was not a hurry and decided to wait.
Meanwhile I came to know from a friend in Bangalore that the Dzire is having a 6 months booking delay in Bangalore. Anyways I was not worried cos my dealer was very sure to give me my swift dzire in 2 months time. Even that 2 months passed away.
I again visited the dealer and this time he extended it for another 2 months. I was a little angry and wanted to see the priority list and check if they have sold my vehicle some other person. The agent got me a print out of the list and I was at No.2 for my colour preference. I was at no 2 and still 2 more months of waiting !!!
I demanded an explanation. Maruti is exporting 6 out of every 10 swift dzire they are producing. One showroom gets only 5 vehicles a month. There are 102 pending bookings with my dealer itself. So I decided to cancel my booking.
Maruti Swift Dzire is an excellent vehicle. It has got mileage, It has got pickup and enough space for a family of 4. The vehicle beats Ford fiesta in all aspects except for mileage. Its too bad that Maruti is giving priority for exporting. Anyways, its their business, they need profits. May be Ill buy one when the next version is released.

Do you think it is worth waiting?

& just note the F.A.C.T that Maruthi borrows multijet engine from FIAT. Its an award winning engine from FIAT. Not only maruthi, the next Indian AUTO LEGEND TATA also uses the same engine bought from FIAT for their Indigo & Indica series. TATA also agreed to SELL FIAT sedan series cars through TATA showrooms in return to engine. Also TATA will enjoy the “know how” of FIAT engine! You see the great fact that TWO INDIAN AUTO LEGENDS uses FIAT engine for their most selling & popular cars!

I havent booked any other car.
BTW, I heard that if someone who has NRI status books a car through some scheme of theirs, he will get the car in a months time.

Aahaaa… NRI status!!! what scheme is that any way?? Will they provide some auto gear system or so.
Then you can try that way kenney, try to get one of your NRI friend who is on leave, or is it necessary to be in India while submiting the order?
