Well I am not very sure about Kerala Police – But generally speaking about cellular networks – Once you have access to the network – it is possible to monitor all the voice and data lines that leads up to your cell phone.

It is even possible to remotely activate the microphone on your cell-phone and listen to you -without you even knowing.

I am sure all Cell Phone networks and landline networks have to provide such inter connectivity to the Law Enforcement agencies – so that they can monitor the so called terrorist…(also called line tapping)

And as for tracing where a the actual data originated – there is no way of saying – as the file itself does not contain such information.

But when you are talking of relaying such files thru a network – there are ways to track it, as every time there is a communication between two entities in the network – Log files are created automatically will full details of the communication.

May be the statement from KP is a little over hyped/wrong but they are watching you….

oh come on, you guys are unnecessarily creating a furore…after years of reading about the way KP operates, this one is pretty easy to decipher.. once they track the clip on a phone, lock up mardanam starts with kunichu nirthi idi, uruttal etc… he will give you the name of the guy he got it from, and the people who he’s passed it on to.. repeat process with all these people, and so on, till you reach the srishtikarthavu (creator, not religion pls)… allathe, don’t worry about cutting edge tech..
as suresh gopi would say, athu manassilakkan police budhi onnum venda, pattashappukarante…..
