Recently we all have been hearing a lot about divorces in the IT industry. Media is giving a lot of coverage to this, saying that divorces in the IT industry is increasing. It is a fact, but it has got nothing to do with IT or the IT work culture. Its all about personal freedom and independence.
In western countries the divorce rate is much higher when compared to the Indian rates, and we tend to use that statistics to boast how much of family values we uphold and how strong our family systems are. But does divorce rates have got anything to do with family values ?
As I see it, divorce rates have got more to do with personal freedom and independence than family values. We Indians don’t respect personal freedom to an extent Westerners do. “What will the society think of me” becomes a major concern.
Why divorce rates are high in the IT industry ?
Its simply because of the financial freedom that IT provides. Its all about the money. Divorces in the IT industry has got nothing to do with IT or the work culture. Its just about the money. If you are financially independent then you don’t have to take “Crap” from anyone.
In most cases, women suffer more when marriage related problems occur because as a divorcee, life is harder for them. But if you have a good job with a good pay, you can always say good bye when things get intolerable. If you are not financially secure then you are cursed to compromise a lot.
If you look at the statistics again, divorces are higher in the financially upper strata of the society. There each individual have the luxury to have his/her identity and personal freedom. Marriage simply cant violate that, and if it does it they can end it with out having to worry too much about the future.

Malayala Manorama, the most popular Malayalam Daily is back with another bluetooth story. This time its even more disgusting and technically incorrect.
Now before I go into the details of the article, I just want to make a point. Internet and Mobile Phone are not bad technologies. People might misuse it, its a fact. But people are also misusing the print medium. PlayBoy, Penthhouse, Debonair etc are pure examples of the print medium being misused. I didnt see Manorama or any other print medium protesting with captions like “blue print” just like they try to brand bluetooth as “Blue Truth”.
Take a look at their logo.

I must admire their graphics guy. A mouse moving over the outline image of a women. Perfect. Why not try and publish this in your own publication “The Man”.
Now the kinky stories about internet and mobile phones follow. Just look at the care given to the details. A movie script writer if sees this will come and join Manorama to learn this art. And we must not forget that these are experts who can write Kargil war descriptions, and sexy spy stories sitting in their cabins in Kottayam Manorama office.

This is what I call psuedo porn. Also take a look at the title. Brilliant…. right ? Poor Bluetooth.

Looks like someone has subscribed to the FSI blog.

Nice name “Diana” and the blame goes to the internet (firewalled )

Prisoner of bluetooth ?

There is a mention about the Manorama Vision Sting operation Camera team in the article, who once setout to prove that girls cant travel freely in buses and after 10PM.

So much for the emotional kinky bullshit. Let come to the technical aspects of the report. Read the following.

This is total nonsense. This is technical bullshit. But I wanted to be 100% sure, so I asked my friend Ajeesh to take a look at it and comment. He has been working on bluetooth for the last 3 years. And this is what he commented about the article.
I just went through the article. Most of the tech info in this article are false.I really dont think that some one can access your cell phone using their mobile bluetooth(i dont believe) and even i dont think that there is some device available to hack the bluetooth communication.
The simplest bluetooth connection is using Obex Push profile, and in this case also, client should accept the connection, otherwise we cant access client device.
In this article they are saying about bluetooth file transfer, which is possible only if both the devices are paired.
In file transfer, both connection uses a shared link and the link has a particular link key and link policy. Only those devices can know the link key and connection took place after providing a 16 digit pin number. Even bluetooth works using frequency hoping mechanism.
I didnt even heard about such a bullshit before. I downloaded some software which can be installed on mobile phones. They said that using this software we can hack into other mobile phones.. I tried it in my mobile phone.. no luck..
So we can conclude that around 99% of the tech information in this article is fake.. I think manorama has some allergic problem with new technologies like bluetooth, camera phones etc. Some people might be misusing it, no one can stop it. But bluetooth is a secure mechanism. To hack bluetooth, they surely need its developers help..
!!!
Now I have full faith in our cyber forensics department.

How to you choose whether or not to buy a petrol car or a diesel car ? Now that the petrol prices have increased, many of us tend to go for a diesel cars. Diesel cars are costly by atleast a lakh when compared to their pertol varients.
We need to take a look at the following factors and then decide.
- Whats your average usage per year
- What are the maintenance costs per kilometer
- How long are you planning to use a car
Diesel cars are best suited for people who’s usage is high. Maintenance costs are high for diesel cars and their life is smaller compared to petrol cars. So lets do some math and find out.
Lets say, diesel variant for a particular car costs 1 lakh more than the petrol variant. Now that additional 1 lakh can get you 1923 liters of petrol and 2631 liters of diesel for the current price .
Lets assume a mileage of 13 for petrol and 17 for diesel for our particular car. So we can travel
1923 X 13 = 24999 kilometers on petrol with that 1 lakh if we buy the petrol varient
Spreading it over 3 years you get to drive 8333 kilometers a year. If your driving needs are less than that its better to go for the petrol variant. For the diesel varient you have to shell out the additional 1 lakh and also money for diesel after that.
Apart from this, diesel vehicles adds approximately Rs 1 to the maintenance cost for every kilometer you drive. So do the math before you go decide on petrol or diesel.
