GoDaddy Fraud – Kill The Bloody CowBoy

Hi, I am Kenney Jacob, love blogging about Education, Media hypocrisy and Social Issues.

Yesterday I participated in the .me domain loot and registered many .me domains. But now the buggers have put many of my domains for auction. The cow boy is blaming the system saying that there were many concurrent attempts to register the domains, so they are putting it up for auction.

    Why auction ?

Dont they have anything called a time stamp on their servers ?

The cowboy is exploaiting us. I have many domains with Go Daddy and Im gonna transfer all of them out. I wont ever visit go daddy.

Its time that we all did that. Lets kill the cow boy.

    3. Do not register domains with them
Transfer out all the current domains
      And Spread the word

They shouldn’t get away with this kind of fraud.

    4. Kenny,
This happened to many people yesterday. Try registering with netfirms.com, they too have .me registrations.

    5. But I have not registered any thing yet. Is there anything else that unregistered people can do other than forwarding?

    6. Yes…. start a blog under a free provider like blogger or wordpress and make this issue your first post.

    7. GoDaddy is very big..they have thousands of registrations everyday and nothing is gonna kill them

If you want a good provider;well you can choose gnusys.net . The no frills no problems domain registrar . I can also provide support as a guy next door for all your domain name stuffs

And nothing comes for free..if some one says to you they give domains for free or at a low price..theres always a catch like a hosting account that you have to! take home etc etc

    8. Hmm, I only use godaddy for spammable info domains ;) For more serious stuff, i use domainsite.com for rest. 6.99 and privacy is only 50 cents :)

I had a same problem with rediff too….

    9. that is the normal policy of the .me registry. Its same with a registar. Not just godaddy.

Btw I am not favouring godaddy. There r lots of issues with them. Check out nodaddy.com to have a small idea about it.

    10. When I learned about distributed systems,I remember reading, its impossible to have a ‘perfect’ syncronized global clock necessary for timestamping. (the reason being some drifting of clocks or so)..

      Can someone clarify ?

    12. Guys/Gals,
Switch to https://www.nearlyfreespeech.net/ . I am switching my sites from GoDaddy to this domain and their pricing starts from $0.25 (Yes!!!) and you have to pay only for what you use.
Data Transfers (Bandwidth): Starts at $1.00 per gigabyte and goes down.
Disk Space (Storage): $0.01 per megabyte-month

i really like that idea and i m going to test their service. I hate GoDaddy.

NFS is good only for smaller sites. If youe site is big, it will go beyond the normal pricing of about 5-10$ monthly that is usually paid.

Also, the issue here is about domains than hosting ;)

      Comment by TheAnand — July 24, 2008 @ 3:29 pm

    14. Yes Anand, You are right. NFS is good for small sites only. But its enough for many people and once we get more hits, we can switch to other providers. NFS is gud for start up sites.

NFS has domain registration too. You have to host ur site somewhere after domain is registered. I know the issue is domain registration with GoDaddy and I was just giving alternative solutions.

Can anyone suggest alternative providers? I will try it since I am looking for another provider other than GoDaddy

    15. I currently hold my domains with domainsite and hosting with hostmonster.

Both are no-frills and get the job done. I have been hearing crap about godaddy since the day I got online!

Sorry, I dint know NFS had domain registration. Lemme check it up.

Most of the Go Daddy promo codes will be for some 3 or 4 days only. You must check their expiring dates before you use them. I have used few of them successfully. But am unhappy with their service bcoz of few other reasons.

If you wanna try some thing by your own am ready to help you, something like setting up your own domain registration and web hosting portal, absolutely for free of cost.
