Check out this photo and the caption. Mathrubhumi May 28, 2008
If you have a press tag then you can shoot any horrible scene and print it on the front page for millions to see. But if you are a normal person, then the same media calls you heartless. Now thats called corporate media double standards.

The cuisines of media are always news. You can see the heart of the media photographers, if you stay a moment in front of high court , after the verdict of some torture case etc. They already proven that they have no heart feelings.
Yesterday they got this picture, the picture of zealous and called as heartless, as their NEWS. Very few people think from your aspect. And it is the distinctiveness of kenneyjacob.com also.

Kenny,
you’ve done exactly what I thought yesterday, when i saw this photo.
The Media People condemns those people who are trying to shoot the incident in their cameras and calls them heartless. And what different did the cameraman of that photo did??
If you stood behind that MathruBhumi cameraman and shot the incident, you could see him too among those people trying to capture the incident in their cameras.
Pathetic !!!
(Thanks for blogging this. Sadly, I cant blog these news on my blog. That’s the problem you face if you categorize/specialise your blog)

I do have ill feelings seeing media celebrating or taking photos at a gruesome incidents or sights like this……… But i do see other face of journalists…. Because Press is regarded as Watchdog of Public, who are in need to report whats happening in the society….. A doctor should be frightening or avoid a person seeing in blood, as its his duty to treat him……. Likewise, the prime duty of journalist is to report what happened in the area to the public, good or bad……… Its their moral duty as a journalist to see for the public…… Today you and me came to knew that something worse has happened in kochi, only thro’ this press report……. Else if they didn’t report, none of us would knew that a person has been killed on road………..
However its really hearthing to see such pictures on very first page of a newspaper, as the pleasure of the morning mood is gone seeing such tragic incidents……. I recommend, such pictures or reports must be given in the inner pages

chill guys… these establishments will all be extinct like the dinosaurs by 2020. How many more variations of scandal, child abuse, bribe-taking, corrupt swamis and god-men can they write about to make front page news?
Like Google, the only thing that can kill the big media outlets like MM(you know what i’m talking about) is THEMSELVES. They’re too big for anyone else to do that. I Trust them to dig their own graves.
I can’t wait for the day when MM writes a story about how bloggers are evil and must be sent to jail for practicing journalism without a press card. Don’t be shocked. Nothing is beneath them, just to sell a few more papers.
I call BS on their so-called online readership stats provided via Alexa. I think a new, completely online Malayalam media outlet targeting the web generation is a great idea. Competition and quality plus a level playing field online will be their undoing. Someone will do it right and make pots of money too.

I completely agree with Vimal George on his comment above. Me too have felt the same.
As he said:

Agree that our media has double standards, but in this particular case, the Photographer was not shooting a dead man, but showing us how insensitive people have become. This picture have captured it brilliantly and we should be applauding the cameraman. The mere fact that we are discussing this is a proof of it’s impact. Journalists too have feelings, but it’s part of their job to bring the truth to the public. It’s another story that media barons are vultures looking for ‘scoop’ pics like this.
