The Vanitha article about “Mobile phones and Blue Truth”, that contains so called real stories, provoked me to write my previous post
http://www.kenneyjacob.com/2008/04/25/vanitha-internet-and-the-mobile-phone/
Thanks to the readers for pointing out some examples of stinking journalism that the Malayala Manorama group does.
The first one, their sting operation in which they send some girls to provoke men and collect evidence that all men are molesting women in buses and and at night. The girls had some bad experience from a bus depot at night, and they generalised that we are all sex predators.
The same Malayala Manorama group publishes a magazine “The Man”, which deals with topics like Threesome, Erotic Love, India’s hottest bikini girls and lots and lots of pictures of semi nude girls. They publish “The Man” at one hand and on the other they write about women being used as a commodity.
There was a news report in their channel and it said “Bluetooth, the poison tooth”. They were describing bluetooth as technology to transfer blue films. There are millions of people who trust these publications and its really sad to see them giving such idiotic reports.
The same group once described all private buses that run to Bangalore as a place enjoy with your girl friend, where you have one nights total freedom, without having to worry about anyone.
They are successful in their mission. A friend of mine from cochin told me that her mom took away her mobile after reading the Vanitha article. Mom also commented – “Will give you your mobile when you get married”.
Every technology that can be used, can be misused. Not just the internet and the mobile phone, the print media also. And the best example of paper being misused is Vanitha and the Malayala Manorama.
After having said all this, Id like to congratulate every parent who still trusts their children with internet and mobile phones. Your kids will defenitly value your trust and it will give the confidence they need to live in this world.

i really support kenney.
” everyone can blame other’s . but it is better to check our own status before blaming others ”
it is not the technology which is making our youth bad, instead it is the wrong approach to use the technology
Everything has it’s own positive side and negative side
.It is up to the person who use it determine to do good or bad
Good kenney !
Keep going……..

Everybody please put this link to your GoogleTalk status, and make people aware of this Yellow Prostitution.
Manorama is just one among. The more subscribers she get, The more she does this. And please dont be one among them. Boycott…..!

Great article Kenny … But don’t u think its afterall us who encourage the print media to ‘manipulate’ the truth? haven’t u seen the general trend wherein its some masala in the content that really helps any comodity to be sold? And then goes the saying – ‘Sex sells ‘ .. Be it malayala manorama or any other media (both print n electronic) … everyone is using the beast in Man to get their purpose done …
This article is great, Kenny .. strong language and amazing content .. something which a of lot elderly people/senior citizen (especially women) should read ..
Congrats

Its a true fact that sex, masala and gossip sells. But it is not necessary that the media should sell it.
Open up the drugs market, it will sell for sure. But are we selling it ? No.
There is another thought in my mind when I see that, its the most widely read womens magazine. May be this what our women are worth…..

No comments on this one. Exhausted my opinions on the Vanitha post
But I have a doubt… Lets safely assume that a Blue Film will be a minimum of 200-300 MB. And the transfer rate of bluetooth is a max of 20KBps. Which means to transfer one BF, it’ll take around 4 and a half hours of continuous not disrupted transfer!!!
These people dont even have their technologies right!!!

People still think the new technology is misleading young youth to the elder pa’s. Lets get back to the papers or editions where publicity strike like full moon on nights.
All what manorama did was a few sentimental workouts to make their publicity wider. But what they edited was also a truth, but one side of a truth. No one is aware of the good sides, neither they want to know, coz vanitha and malayala manorama are popular among WOMEN in our country than men.
So, kenneyG, very soon people may think a mobile software company is a dangerous place for girls to work for, not today but one day soon, the same magazine may write about such, indirectly. Any way, that was good as well as bad article.
Any plan to protest internally???

ROFL. Blue in Bluetooth? No wonder my auntie was goggle-eyed when i mentioned that I network my 2 phones with my laptop using just bluetooth.
I never miss an oppurtunity to bash Vanitha and MM in any household that subscribes.(only after checking out the name of a particularly cute model on the cover, of course; for googling purposes only
)

Its getting better n better with Manorama, isn’t it?
Disgusting, to be frank, the factionalism and sub-standard journo tricks they adopt to sell their products.
I’m still waiting for a story where Manorama could score over their opponents. Be it the MM daily, Vanitha, The Week or their obscene channel, they all exhibit the same ‘top notch’ quality and colour as their yellow weekly ‘ma’norama…

Its my personal opinion that India is too diverse in all possible aspects,so if a Media house has got different opinions on the same kind of issues.
But as a Marketing person, you have to understand that both the Magazine and the newspaper, serve the needs of entirely different sets of readers.
Hence the approach is different.
Its like a Buffet Lunch, don’t have everything on offer. But I guess only have something you like.
Freedom of choice lies with the readers!!!

The point u make is very valid.Malayala Manorama does cater to the ‘partial truth’.Publishing of reports from amateurish journos by ‘Vanita’ is a cause, too.

Manorama wants to attract ppl,and pornography is a sure bet, u got trapped!!!

.
studies showed that sexual assaults are decreasing as pornography industry is booming
(donno if porn industry did the studies)
For me, it does’nt matter if college students use mobile phones or not, but any way they shouldn’t be denied, let them decide
I also think mobile phones are increasing the pace of our daily life, he he
College students should use mobiles, ‘coz its the time when mobiles are purely ‘entertainment’,they can hear music while in class, may be vidoes or movies, can plan mass bunk without coming to campus…hmmm lot of options
Let ‘em see some pornography also
Study on juveniles and adolescents showed other way around!! So don’t et ‘em see some pornography

Manorama is the best news paper you can buy in India, for the past 2 generations we are using manorama, this is the best toilet paper by all means.First use you can cut into smlall rolls, keep in toilet
A bunch of waste advertisement and zero value news, when you compare the real NEWS papers, you can see the different.
Don’t read or look the photos ( only for 18+), especially in sports page.the best example is Sania’s shots, I wonder where manorama’s Photographer sit to take those shots. they always shoot bouncing boobs or a wet panties.
you should take a look into http://www.youtube.com/user/karmaworld0#p/a/u/2/HBXFQbyqQ1Q here
whatever he says is correct and true
