Meebo.com

Posted by Jyothi M John

Meebo.com is a revolutionary web site that allows you to log into any or all of your Instant Messengers at the same time. You can either log into individual IM’s displayed on the home page, otherwise you can create a meebo account the will let you log into multiple accounts at the same time. Though advanced settings like voice and video chat at not yet very compatible, the people behind meebo have come a long way from just a multiple chat client to a full fledged . And the best part is that it is completely free.

Meebo Screen Shot

Meebo is a very good solution for people who use IM’s a lot to communicate. Instead of having multiple ’s open making it very confusing and taking up all your memory, you can have just one web page open and chat with all your buddies. Meebo also comes with some eye-catching skins that you can appl. Meebo currently supports googletalk, MSN messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Jaber, ICQ and AIM.

I have been personally using meebo on my laptop for the last year. I also got a firefox plug in that will log me in as soon as I open a firefox window. And just like MSN messenger - it gives you an update if any one comes online or goes off line.

Try it out now and leave your comments…

Widgets and Gadgets for Linux

Widgets and gadgets were something I wanted to try out for quite some time. Its only today that I got a chance. I run the latest Ubuntu 7.10 on my laptop.
To my disappointment I found out that most of the widget platform providers dont support linux. The gadgets and the yahoo widgets dont support linux.

Some forums talk about another service provider, but his domain is now parked, looks like he went bankrupt.

If anyone knows how to run gadgets or yahoo widgets on linux, please comment.

Your Child is Not Studying Well

This is one sentence many parents might have seen on their child’s school diary or progress report. I saw this recently on a child’s diary and it provoked some thoughts in me.

The kids dad is paying around 50K per year as tuition fees. He is paying that amount for the school to take care of his kids . The school should be responsible if a kid is not studying. Why are they sending the parent a note saying that his son is not studying and you should take more attention.
If the parents were to fully look after the kids , then why send the kid to a school and then pay 50k as fees. I would suggest that, if a kid is not performing well the teacher should be held responsible. Teaching is a teachers job, and not a parents job.
