Hi, I am Kenney Jacob, love blogging about Education, Media hypocrisy and Social Issues.

This is one sentence many parents might have seen on their child’s school diary or progress report. I saw this recently on a child’s diary and it provoked some thoughts in me.

The kids dad is paying around 50K per year as tuition fees. He is paying that amount for the school to take care of his kids education. The school should be responsible if a kid is not studying. Why are they sending the parent a note saying that his son is not studying and you should take more attention.
If the parents were to fully look after the kids education, then why send the kid to a school and then pay 50k as fees. I would suggest that, if a kid is not performing well the teacher should be held responsible. Teaching is a teachers job, and not a parents job.

    1. We need to think whom should we give more serious education: to student, to parent or to the teachers??

    3. I wouldn’t really blame the teachers. I remember, when I was a student, we never used to pay such exorbitant fees. But when it came to my education, my parents used to push me to do better all the time and help me where they can.
Now the mentality has changed. People think that be paying money, they are excused of their responsibility. I don’t mean to say that the teachers and the school management is not responsible. Parents are equally responsible for the kids education, as the teachers. Education does not end at school. We educate ourselves and others everyday. But it is a sad fact that now education has become business and the standards of teachers have fallen to all time lows.
This is the reason we are cursing the education system (http://www.kenneyjacob.com/2007/10/22/f-the-engineering-education-system/) and thinking of Honorary Degrees (http://www.kenneyjacob.com/2008/01/14/honorary-degree-for-the-techies/)

    4. Its not about the money, buddy, its about the responsibility. The institution and teachers are responsible for a students academic performance.
