Me and my friend wanted some cash urgently and we went to the ICICI bank ATM. But unfortunately it was closed for maintenance. So we went to a nearby CSB ATM. The ATM shutters were open, but the screen said

“I am being serviced, will be back in service soon”

I asked the security there and he said they are servicing the ATM kiosk online. I kinda liked the concept of it and as we were talking the ATM kiosk came back online and I took cash from it.

I gave the money to my friend and told him about the online servicing concept. Then he said.

“A few years back only information was at our finger tips, but now life is at our finger tips”

The statement is very true, emails, mobile phones, ATMs, credit cards, there are too many things on our finger tips without which life is going to be difficult.

The first set of people are those who become angry, people who punch you in the face, people who openly declare war with you, people who stop talking to you when you have a fight. These are the people who show their feelings when they are unhappy. These people can cause you physical damage. But these are momentary setbacks that these people cause. You don’t really have to be afraid of these people, you at least know that it will finish with the physical rage. You can actually trust these people.

But then there is another kind of people, the sweet ones, the ones who never gets angry, the ones who always can talk to you whatever mood you are in, people who are not affected by any emotion, people who show too much of friendship, people who comes back to you even after a tough fight, people who are good at negotiating, people who accept all your bad habits, people who don’t take anything personal. These are the guy’s go sometimes go out of the way to accommodate you without the slightest hesitation.

These are the most dangerous ones. They show a smiling face, but you will never know what is going on inside their mind. They will be friendly, but they can kill you once you are not needed.

If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed! December 26th, 2007 — P2P Technology P2p file sharing started a revolution in the way how we accessed multimedia content on our PC through internet. It was a truly disruptive technology and it changed the business models of the media industry.

P2p file downloading has become a very common activity. I look for files on a p2p network rather than searching in google. P2p downloads are faster than normal downloads. Also I like to watch the connection stats, peers etc, it gives me a really nice feeling.

The newest thing in the p2p scene is p2p streaming. Joost, a p2p2 streaming product is getting a lot of attention. Finally its looks like we have found a solution for the bandwidth crisis when we attempt true video on demand. Soon I will be able to watch live video on my laptop.

Now what is future going to look like for p2p ?

P2p has conquered the internet and the PC. Now it will come to our living rooms. The next p2p thing will be a p2p set top box. Live streaming and video on demand powered using p2p technology over an IP network. IP TV will need p2p technology to deliver content in reasonable time delays.

P2p technology will work better with TV when compared to p2p downloading because the number of people viewing the same channel in a locality will be many times higher than the number of people downloading the same file. So for a channel there will be an enormous number of seeds.

Companies making set top boxes and IP TVs should start looking into this technology cos this is your future.

December 19th, 2007 — Orkut Ever since I wrote a post about the new privacy features in orkut, Ive been getting many requests to write about how to do it. Many were asking how to protect their photos and videos. Personally I dont agree to locking up photos and videos and the procedure seemed too obvious. Now if anyone is still not able to figure it out here is the procedure.

Login to orkut and goto Settings and then click the Privacy tab. Now at the bottom you will see some thing like this.

Now I dont think I need to explain more.
