Peer to peer file sharing was considered and illegal technology cos of its wide spread use to distribute files with copyright without getting caught. Napster, Elitetorrents, bittorrent etc are some of the examples. Many illegal p2p companies were closed after long legal battles.

Inspite of all these problems the community adopted the technology because of its use and efficiency.  Now the technology has become stable and secure and more and more companies are looking forward to the benefits of P2p technology.

Joost is a system for distributing TV shows via the internet using p2p technology. The company already signed agreements with some of the major production houses in the US for distributing TV content.

PeerCast allows streaming of radio and TV content. Using this technology anyone can become a broadcaster.

Bittorrent is the most popular keyword in the p2p industry. Its a protocol for file sharing as well as a company. The company has now agreements with major studios to sell their content. They have evolved into a paid site from where the users can download content via p2p technology by paying a small amount.
