Not Always For Profit

Not all business are started for profit. Not all businesses started with a strict profit motive. Some are started for the passion of doing it. I know the core business people might not agree to me, but it is a truth. Money is not the only driving force in this world.

If we look at some of the most advanced and wonderful technologies of our times, we can see that most of them were developed in universities. Students work on passionate research projects which at some stage gets funded when companies see a money making opportunity in that particular project. If that student had thought about the business plan and money and the feasibility, he might not have gone forward with it.

If we look at foreign countries, there are many people whose childhood hobbies, properly developed, becoming daily bread earners for them.

In India we lack such activities, may be because we are poor country. But still there are many things that we can do to help.

Me and my friends are going to train college students, from first year onwards in their choice of programming language. Anyone interested ?

I totally agree with you. India lags behind big time on R&D. India needs to invest heavily on R&D - otherwise our growth will be crippled because of our dependence on other countries to do R&D for our production facilities…

Not only that - Our educational system is more of textbook education - we have to promote creativity and imagination within our student community for them to come up with new ideas and try them out…
