In one word Nadiya is a good film. First of all the famous english writer Agatha Christie should be appreciated. She started writing investigative novels only for challenging Arthur Conan Doyal and his Sherlock Holmes.. Even though she couldn’t defeat Doyal or Holmes in popularity, that competition gave birth to a character Hercule Poyrott and many thrilling investigations by him.
AK Sajan has adpated Agatha Christie’s famous novel “Murder on the Orient Express” for his screenplay and portrayed it in kerala background with many additions. The film starts by the arrest of a terrorist from a train, and the special investiation team reopens the souparnika express” murder case. Three murders in the same compartment. SureshGopi plays the lead character of Sharaffudeen, the head of the team.
The film moves forward by proving each murder successfully. The investigation of Nadiya’s murder becomes very lengthy and it drags many times. But the stunning climax makes the film really catchy. The film should have been made more visually appealing. Too many matters are said through only dialogs. There exists many dangling links without description, such as the minor accident at railway station, the victim’s escape, hiding the evidences etc. A novel has enough space and time to describe all the suspects. But AK Sajan could not make it compact when converted into a screenplay.
The cameo role of Prithviraj could have been avoided. In short “Nadiya Kollappetta Rathri” is worth a watch. Can give 6/10.
