Lal Jose once again proves that he is one of the best in the bussiness. His latest venture Arabikatha is built up in the background of communism. The movie tells the story of a sincere left activist Mukundan(Sreenivasan), and his life’s challenges. The director and the script writer have made a sincere effort to portray a realistic and socially relevant theme.
The movie starts with depicting Mukundan’s social life in his village. Indrajith plays the role of Anwar, the right hand of Mukundan. They live only for the party and works as per the real ethics of communism. As a result of some underplays in his own party, Mukundan falls in a financial crisis and goes to Dubai for finding a job to solve his crisis.There he faces many challenges and fate changes his life completely. Samvritha plays the role of a nurse working for years in Dubai. Jayasurya’s character carries some negative shades..
The movie shows the invasion of capitalism and the loss of relevance of communist theories in our daily life. It gives some flashes into the change of social life in communist nations like China, Russia etc. The film shows the pros and cons of Dubai
life of malayalees in its most realistic manner. Laljose’s signature is clearly visible in the movie. The scene which shows Mukundan leaving for Dubai and the ending scene are director’s specials.
There are some minor flaws in the script and could have corrected them easily, by adding one or two scenes. In short Arabikatha is a must watch for all movie lovers. Since there are a lot of left thinkers in kerala, the movie can get more acceptance. Can give 7.5/10.
