I believe that language is meant for communication and communication best happens when we keep the language simple. But many a times we find writers and so called language experts using complicated sentence structures and words to make it appear professional. Its complicating communication.
How many of you have read a novel that was written in the medieval times. The sentences are too long and to understand many of the words need a dictionary. They are regarded are classics. Victorian language was very popular once, just because only educated can use it. Using such complicated language was a status symbol.
How many these days read Shakespear ? No doubt that he was great writer, but his days are over. People are looking for simpler stuff, to which they can relate.
Why are movies so popular ? It dosent take you to be a scholar to appreciate a movie. Its the simplest form of communication.
Anyways, its the writers freedom to write in any style he likes, and its the readers freedom to throw away stuff thats too complicated for him into the waste bin.
(dont let the language hype carry you away. Simple is beautiful)

Hi Kenny
I think you are confusing with the two different concept’s.
Language as a communication Tool - to relate to one another
Language as Literature - for the development of the language
Most of the time we confuse these two thing’s and curse the language.
we are more comfortable with language as a communication tool - as that is what we use it for. but scholars care about the literature - the double meanings; the triple meanings …..
I agree. However learning to write in a complicated fashion seems to be the only way to communicate with lawyers, patent offices, etc. They seem to revel in such prose.
Simple is beautiful, I believe in this.
