TWSS is an IBM product for the telecom operators. The aim of the product is to provide controlled access to core network functions to third party application developers (ie us, the VAS providors)

With TWSS developers are isolated from the complex telecom network. They can focus on the problem at hand without having to go into the details of the telecom network.

TWSS exposes network services are web services which can be consumed for various purposes. Telecom networks evolve, but the web services remain the same. Once an application is coded to use a service, it can be reused as long as the web service is not changed.

Some of the services exposed by TWSS are

Third-party calls
Location based services
Call notification
Terminal location
Short Messaging Service (SMS)
Multimedia Messaging service
