In a country with deep rooted religious practices and extreme communal tension, there are a class of people who can afford to be very loyal to be their born religion. Those people who are very poor, who do not see much of a future for themselves, those who work day and night for 2 meals a day, for all these people religion is still something they cant comprehend.
Ive seen a handful of those people. A childhood friend of mine who used to keep pictures of three gods in his purse, a daily worker who used to pray at temples and churches, a relative of mine who is a fan of both Matha Amrithanandmayi and Satyasayi Baba…….. All of them struggling to make ends meet.
For them GOD is not an issue, they will pray to every GOD, may be diversification is the key. They dont want to take a risk sticking to a GOD. What if the GOD to whom they are praying regularly is not the real GOD, why take a risk when you have got options, distribute your prayers.
Here I Salute everyone with such simple dreams and aspirations.

May 27th, 2007 — GSM/CDMA

This is the basic unit of a GSM network. The image is not mine, I copied it from a PDF I got from the internet.
The most important part of the network is the MSC or the Mobile Switching Center. MSC is equivalent to the telephone exchange. It has got necessary switching equipment to route a call to the appropriate MSC or external switching device, PSTN or PSPDN.
PSTN - Public Switched Telephone network (our ordinary telephone network, landline)
PSPDN - Packet Switched Public Data Network (GPRS, X.25 based VPNs)
The MSC is connected to many BSSs.
BSS - Base Station Subsystem
The BSS is that part of the GSM network which is responsible for taking the call to the subscribers wireless mobile. It handles the radio communication part and is equivalent to the cabling system that comes to our homes for the PSTN (landline) phones.
There can be 3 types of calls
- Mobile to Mobile
- Mobile To Land Line
- Data Calls
M2M calls are routed to from MSC to MSC. Mobile to landline calls are routed from the MSC to the appropriate PSTN exchange or gateway switching center. Data packets from a data call are sent to the appropriate PSPDN gateway. GPRS is considered a data call.

This movie was recommended by Anil Thricovil (CEO - Alamy Images). He introduced to us the movie during one of his mentoring sessions to make us understand some basic concepts in corporate business.
The movie is about Money and Love, mostly about money. Larry- “the Liquidator” tries to take over the Wire and cable company to liquidate it. His love gets in his way and he loses love for money. The movie presents opposing and supporting reason for this and leaves the judgment to the viewers. It also raises questions like, who is important, the employees or the share holders ?
To Larry making money is a game. And there is a dialog in the movie which is very interesting. To him making money is a game and he says “Who ever has the most when he dies, Wins”.
Think about it.

May 23rd, 2007 — BarCamp
I heard about barcamps from a friend of mine. Actually I saw it in one of his blog posts. I digged from some information about and read the BarCamp wiki. Its a really wonderful concept. I like the idea of an informal meeting to discuss technical stuff. I myself am a bit nervous when it comes to standing before of a group of people and talk.
I want to organise a BarCamp in Trivandrum. The LUG and MUG in Trivandrum is very active. Also with the Technopark around, we wont have a problem getting techies. The IIITMK will be very much interested promoting something like this.
If anyone from Trivandrum is reading this please post your comments. Lets Organise the first BarCamp in Trivandrum.

The movie comes under the category of romance and fantasy. Reece Witherspoon is a doctor who is very much dedicated to her profession. She is a lonely control freak. The story starts when she is met with an accident. She enters a deep coma and her spirit gets out of her body. Mean while her apartment is rented to another lonely “Love lost” person. Only he can see her. Both of them together finds out whats happening and in the process falls in love with each other. The movie reaches climax when the hospital authorities decide to remove her life supporting devices.
2 years earlier I had seen a movie with the same concept in malayalam. The movie was named “Vismayathumbathu”.
